Saw a lovely Carrera T in Miami Blue yesterday. Have red some mixed reviews.Wondered if it would be a worthy change. I gues it will not be as raw as mine. Apart from being a new car with the latest technoligy would it be a worthy replacement. Its about 20-25K to change.

I wouldn't do that. They should pay you 25k to swap.

That's a no from me. Other than fancying a change, the upside is the reliability/warranty of a new car. Twenty grand buys a lot of maintenance/upkeep on the GT3. Your car is truly special the T is "merely" very very good.

No way in hell...unless you're desperate for back seats, but even those can be lawfully fitted in a 997.1 gt3

I own neither, so my opinion is purely academic.

As something special, for occasional use on the right roads on the right day - the GT3, if only for the beautiful normally aspirated Mezger motorsport engine, 6-spd gearbox and lovely steering

But, for more regular, everyday use, the T would probably make more sense. It’s not as special - it’s basically a trim level on the standard 991 - but it is 10 years newer with all the modern conveniences and useability that make life a bit easier.

Financially, it’s impossible to predict the future. One would assume the T will depreciate more, but the GT3 might have higher running costs.

There seem to be quite a lot of Ts around, but you’ll need to try and find one with your preferred spec

Nooooooo ........ a GT3 is a GT3! I recently drove a T and it was pretty damn good. Certainly faster than a 997.1 GT3 but no where near as much fun.

Have a proper drive in both before making a decision.

The T is 370hp isn't it? The 997.1 GT3 is 415hp. I doubt that would make the T quicker.

No question, keep the GT3.

The T has DAB radio, 997.1 GT3 FM.
T for the win.

You’ve had a number of posts in recent months about changing out of the GT3.
If your heart is with the car anymore then maybe it’s worthwhile embracing that and changing.
Someone else can get to enjoy it.

That said... a Carrera T isn’t a direct replacement.... but if you want something to use more regularly... with impunity and little worry about residual values and mileage...then sure.
But as has been said...they should be paying you for your car...

If you are think about releasing the GT3... I’d have a proper look around at other marques too.... so that you get a totally different package.

I have a 997.1 GT3 too and while it can be frustrating at times its a truly special car that rewards more than most.

If I were you I would I would make a list of all the things I don't like about the GT3 and all the things I do and then alongside that, make a list of all the things you want the replacement car to have.

You may find that there is far too much overlap and all the things you want the replacement car to do, the GT3 does better.

But the overriding vibe one gets is that you want to change it, is that because you want to change for change's sake/ a large slice of retail therapy ? or does it no longer float your boat ? or does it no longer fulfill the brief you bought it for in the first place ?

As others have said, think very hard before swapping it for the T, no doubt it'll be quick, accomplished and refined, but whilst the grass may appear greener, all too often when the rose-tinted glasses/honeymoon period ends, you may find yourself craving the more visceral, tactile and engaging nature of the older, more analogue car.

I think he needs to sell it, and buy some thing else, the GT3 has a very small window he is not getting on with, that does not mean buying a 911T , I would switch to a car like the GT4.

Just do it. I can relate to getting bored with cars and wanting a nice new shiny toy. I'd have a 991.2 GTS over the T though.

Another vote for sell it ..... nothing wrong with the GT3 I know , I've had a 996, 997 and 2 x 991 ) but life's to short to stay with one car .... and if you can't afford a collection (which I can't ) then it means I often sell cars I like to try something different .

A GT3 to a GT4 just seems like a change with no real thought behind it. I am not sure what the GT4 will give him that the GT3 does not.

^ I did this - as good as the GT3 was, I’ve not looked back - personal choice but I’m very happy and the spec of the 4 is much better than the 3 (PCCB, CS, 918 buckets, nav, sound etc etc) and the added benefit of 3 year warranty now after purchase via OPC

Easier to live with imo by a big margin but more driver focused than the T.

But I don’t get the 911t so if he is not in sync with his GT3 it’s a tough call, is he a driver or a lifestyle owner who likes driving. People like the 981 Spyder more than the GT4 but it’s more a life style car overs a drivers car. nothing wrong in that, I am on holiday in mine atm, but I would not do a lads trip to a euro track day in it and I would not go out for a Sunday morning hoon in it over other cars. It’s does a good job as a life style car but has a little bit for the driver to not be dull like the normal models. Not many people are “drivers” imo and while that upsets a lot of people , it is what it is and most people would be better off in a GTS of some sort, people like hype and status of the rarer brands but prob don't really like driving them lol !

911T is a bit like the 981 Spyder, better than most cars but not a real GT car, so suits more people more of the time out in the real world, life style cars but a bit more exciting. But not trackable really.
