Looking for a 911 buying tips
Discussion
Hi Guys
After 5 years out and with the Porsche itch again I’m looking to buy a used 911 Cabrio.
I will be looking for something around 65-80k
C2s or C4S.
Do these models come with sports exhaust? And is it a worth while option?
Are there many after market exhausts options?
Any advice more than welcome.

Buy a coupe. IMO 911 cabs look terrible.
Can't really comment on the new stuff but with the 996 people go mad for the OEM switchable exhaust. Even if you're not that bothered I'd imagine it will help with the re-sale.
Happy hunting!
996 PSE isn't switchable is it? Just sounds good all the time.Buy a coupe. IMO 911 cabs look terrible.

The short answer is "Yes, buy one" ! I have got both a cab and a coupe and find the coupe more accomplished when I want to go for a proper drive, however the cab is fantastic to drive at eight tenths on a sunny day and will bring plenty of smiles.
Your budget will get you into a 991 and, on a C2S or C4S, the sports exhaust is an option unless you go for the GTS variant. On top of the sports exhaust option, I'd also look for one with the sports chrono pack, PASM, LED headlights and BOSE, as they will help both with your enjoyment of the car as well as resale as and when that time comes around.

996 PSE is switchable from about late 2002 onwards. Prior to that it's open up to 30mph, opens again 45mph.
In 996 if you have switch for PSE then its switchable (some don't have switch and its always on). If you have switch then by default it has quiet zone around 30mph even when turned on which can be 'bypassed' by judicious snipping of a diode in relay. Not sure if you need to do that if you have the no-switch version. 996 with PSE adds a lot of fun.996 PSE is switchable from about late 2002 onwards.
