Lizard RS used properly in a world of flippers
Discussion
It’s a real shame to see all these fantastic cars being advertised by flippers - they really don’t know what they are missing out on...
Anyway, enough of that - picked my car up on 30 April, had it booked in for full PPF and ceramic coating but needed Matt Black decals but as the car was probably the 1st on the road in the UK then none available from Highgate House. So I agreed to meet Rick from HH at Guildford OPC at the end of the 1st week, to get the decals surveyed. Over the weekend, in for the PPF, etc.. After the weekend - Sharkwerks installed - nice
Following week starting to put miles on with no decals - eek - but still the absolute tits. Decals finally arrived, Sunday morning meet at 9 Excellence and then off to the Nurburgring the week after - time to find out what this bad boy can do. And boy is it a mega car. Had the geo setup by Manthey Racing before getting out on track at DN19. This RS is a decent step up in terms of being focused and hardcore compared to previous models - I think this will be a mega car in the future - really looking forward to more track action.
On the way home, stopped off for pics at Reims - great place to view if you haven’t been there before.

Fantastic to see the new RS being used as its makers intended..Can you give an idea of what changes Manthey have done to the geo settings..Apparently they have transformed the GT2 RS as far as being a Ring master..
How different is the RS on the road after the geo alterations..?
They have a kit that modifies the OEM top mounts I believe, to enable it to get 3 deg camber front and also 2.8 deg rear. It feels similar on the road - didn’t feel very different, but was great on the track - I get all my cars set-up prior to getting out on track, either by Manthey, Black Falcon or JZM. Can’t grumble How different is the RS on the road after the geo alterations..?

Did you get the Sharkwerks fitted before DN19 Terry?
Great to see your car being used properly and as intended. It boils my piss to see all the GT3, RS and GT2 RS cars for sale and clearly shows the wrong people are still getting the cars!
Of course I did - forgot to mention that - I’ll edit the 1st post Great to see your car being used properly and as intended. It boils my piss to see all the GT3, RS and GT2 RS cars for sale and clearly shows the wrong people are still getting the cars!
Generally the original air cooled RS and subsequent 996/7 drivers tended to be true enthusiasts and cars not driven as intended were the exemption rather than the norm. Now it’s quite the opposite. A real shame. GT3’s - especially RS’s really should spend some of their time on the race track. A GTS is perhaps a better choice for those who don’t track their cars
It’s great to see a driver with a history of driving these cars as intended through all incarnations. If all owners of new GT3’s drove their cars as intended there would be a lot less unrest and allocation disappointment

Not sure Manthey have done much to 2RS yet - they are only at 'stage 1' which is some more camber and higher ride height to avoid (carbon) arches rubbing. How different is the RS on the road after the geo alterations..?
I think they are looking at more changes from June onwards.
Having said that, I'm a sceptic on tweaking geo on these cars with all the electronics etc. If you are changing whole suspension that's a different thing - e.g. Like the Manthey 3RS.
Anyway, good to see Terry on it, and will likely be on track at the same time later this year.
Good man! Love it!
Love seeing these being used as intended. This picture in particular is brilliant, love the way the front wheel is lifting.
I have often thought about taking my 997 GT3 out to the 'ring but I worry about other traffic. I think I should just bite the bullet and get out there and get some tuition laps in!

So how many laps have you done on the ring in total in all your cars? Would you say you know the track fully now?I have often thought about taking my 997 GT3 out to the 'ring but I worry about other traffic. I think I should just bite the bullet and get out there and get some tuition laps in!

did you have to have caster pucks installed as at 3 your caster would be out.I also thought pulling the bottom of the wheel out was better then pushing the top in, hence shims over top mounts.
I would love to do the ring, but it looks scary on puplic days, will have to sort out a track day there.

Lovely car. Great to see it being used as intended. Not driven the 991.2 RS, but if it's better than a .1, it must be staggering, because all those things want to do is go quickly. The track is most certainly the place for a car of those abilities.Geo is next on the list for me too. I tracked my 997.1 GT3 at Oulton in March and it felt okay, pretty sharp even, but on the 'Ring it felt extremely nervous. The week prior to the trip, I'd had the car back to Sports & Classic to get faulty brake sensors swapped and Mike had advised it needed the settings tweaking.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think on the 996/7 you could flip the top-mounts to get a couple of degrees extra camber, there may be a similar 'trick' for the 991. Give Steve at JZM a ring, i'm sure he will know
I'm not sure of the specifics of what modifcations actually take place and also not sure that Manthey will share the info with JZM anymore - Manthey spend a lot of money on their R&D to get things to the level they want - I know last year they wouldn't share things regarding the 991.1RS - not when I enquired at least - which is why I took that car to Black FalconHowever, now I'm back to Manthey as they know these cars on the Ring like no-one else.

It's a mega place - but I will only do trackdays now - saying that I actually did a TF lap the following day, but it was early and not too much trafficYou can also get insurance for trackdays at reasonable rates through Manning
