A shout to Porsche to stop the GT Filppers
Discussion
I guess the Touring is for those that want to daily a GT car but want to better blend in, best specced in a sober colourway. It is rather apologetic as a GT3 though, confirmed by the lack of GT3 badging on the back. I think Porsche deep down know it's not a GT3....because wing = GT3 = racecar.

I'd say you're probably in a minority with that view. But you know what that's fine, great that Porsche have released a car that some of us would prefer over a bewinged version. I don't remember the GT3's being criticised for their wings before the Touring came along. Interesting car the Touring.
I wouldn't kick one out of bed!

Just personal preference whether winged or not,but the premium to not have a wing is insanity .
You could actually buy a winged gt3 and a regular lightly used Carrera for the price of not having a wing .
this, any T owner must be thinking I can have a winged GT3 with del miles and £50k if I swap now.You could actually buy a winged gt3 and a regular lightly used Carrera for the price of not having a wing .
you have really got to be quite well off and have a hard on for the dewinged car not to think about it esp as on paper the winged GT3 is the better car.

Fair enough, I don't care, that's for sure. Maybe the last bit was said with tongue in cheek but AP as far as I know has been quiet about the Touring package. I know it's a little silly to suggest it's not a GT3 just because it hasn't got a wing, but reduction in lift / downforce IS a big part of the GT3. It is a road/track car after all.
Apologies if I've touched a nerve. Could be one of those arguments that rages for years.... air cooled / water cooled anyone?

I can only go on fact not form talk, they did not sell many lol, it is what it is, even if you take the 1st 150 odd orders which did not have the T available, the rest still did not order a T, only 42 cars sold I hear, from what >400 cars or 250 allocations from when it was available.people did vote with their feet and did not choose it when they had the chance, I think the R made a big % of the 42 people choose it over just having a GT3 with no wing, the R def played a factor in peoples choice, and as there are about 10 for sale, only 32 people want to keep it !
odd car and a very small market imo. I know you say you cannot feel the down force, ram air, the different ECU map and less BHP, but on paper it's the lesser car, that's just a fact.
If there were no ltd ed R at £400k would they have even got 42 orders ? and 25% flippers anyway.

AnniesDad, you do know that it says GT3 on the badge, on the rear. Perhaps you have not seen one. That’s understandable, as they are super-exclusive It'd have been perfect for me with rear seats. I don't think that was possible with type approval or whatever it's called.
I have to admit I'd probably have sold if I'd got one though - not out of original intention. I'm not wealthy enough to turn down that level of money.
If the 992 has a Touring variant I'd guess the orders will be higher! Hence ruining the exclusivity /premium - depending on the power train obviously.

I think that sums it up very neatly -- IF buyers of GT3's thought that the 'touring' option would warrant a significant used premium they'd have ordered that option. They didn't, so they didn't spec it. The sheer number of these cars (991.2 GT3's) ordered by those with an intention to flip, or by buyers who can't resist the nominal premium is clearly evident by the number of cars for sale currently. People who ordered the 'touring' don't seem to be wanting to flip, thus the (in my opinion, and as an owner of a 'touring' optioned car) ridiculous premium, but the scarcity of availability sets the market, mr Valentine. oh and as for the different ECU map and less BHP, where does it say that anywhere ? absolute twaddle, again. anyway I'm bored of this discussion now, I had thought we'd moved on but it seems someone is still spoiling for an argument. pathetic, get a life for petes sake.

Possibly just miffed they didn't spec a Touring anonymous said:

the fact is still only 42 were ordered,(and 25% of those flipped or trying) have you scrubed over that FACT :-)And imo a lot of those orders were due to the 911R. does that make you happy.
No need for the personal attacks when you are on the back foot again, as you knew what I was saying really.
The name calling by you and a few others on here is a bit ott.
I like the touring, does anyone care? I suspect not
I also like the winged car it's important that I tell you!
I like cheese too, the hard cheeses not that soft rubbish. Anyone who likes soft cheese doesnt know what they are talking about. Even the supermarkets know that soft cheese is not that popular as most shelves are stocked with a variety of hard cheese (grated, sliced, block) with only a small concession to soft cheese (usually on a smaller shelf stuffed alongside the very unpopular goats cheese)
Of course, some REALLY like soft cheese and those decerning individuals have been known to take trips to france JUST to get some particular variety of soft cheese. They must be bonkers!!!!
