Help choosing which GT3

Will he keep it, I notice you picked up on the 3rd gear B road issues.
For me that was enough to sell mine. Was pointless ownship for me as I love B road driving and the GT3 makes a poor B road blaster.
Box ticked though and it will be great at Spa. Can sell it when you get back lol
The 3rd gear thing is not an issue for me. I enjoy running the car over 5000rpm in 2nd/3rd, with the windows down :-)For me that was enough to sell mine. Was pointless ownship for me as I love B road driving and the GT3 makes a poor B road blaster.

I'm racing at Spa - not tracking the GT3 - this car for me is not a track toy, as already have that covered in other areas (although I'm sure I'll take it out a couple of times a year) and to be honest once you've got your race licence and have followed the car in front at a distance of 6 inches before diving inside him under the brakes, the rules at track days spoil all the fun...
I took a pic to demonstrate what I mean:
Excuse my Karcher and leaf blower in the reflection :-)
You can see how there is some white residue on the edge of the film across the roof.
Also notice the reflection of the light panels - the one on the left (ceramic coated paint) is much sharper than the one on the right (PPF).
The film is Xpel, installed by Xpel in Letchworth back in 2014, so about 4 years old.

Anyone got any tips for adding Bluetooth to the CDR-23? Initially I bought a cigar lighter FM transmitter from Amazon, but the quality is not great. Does anyone have any experience of the units that plug into the CD changer prep, or the ones that go directly into the FM arial socket on the back of the radio?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Well I spoke too soon and have took the front lip off the car coming down a car park ramp yesterday, I thought I was merely brushing the brake air ducts (like would have happened on my old 997) but no when I got to my destination the front lip was hanging off and scratched.
I'll sand and repaint the one I have, but would like to get a spare from somewhere. So far the Porsche dealer is a bit clueless and has come up with a part for 337+VAT (which doesn't sound right) - design911 are showing NLA for the original part for a 2003-
Anyone have any ideas of suppliers for a decent lip?

Not even my nicest car is immune from my rattle cans and filler efforts........ Would have liked it to have remained un-bodged for more than 2 weeks though.
Hasn't come up too bad after a bit of sanding, some P38, filler primer and matt black.
Porsche-a-part had a genuine RS splitter and the proper fixings on eBay so have ordered that anyway so have a nice new one for show. This one will do for road trips ;-)

OK guys, so we are about 2k miles into 996.2 GT3 ownership, including a road trip to Spa to race in the 24hr!
Some thoughts:
1. I don't know why people think this is a hard car to live with. Perfect road trip car, loads of luggage space without the cage, fine on euro autoroutes - and 30mpg!
2. Having said that, ride is choppy unless billard smooth over 80mph, and also front end gets very pointy as you go faster. I am wondering if that is the front damper refresh (still original - 30k miles) and the as reported in PPI rear toe link bushes and front coffin arm bushes starting to delaminate. Although it tracks perfectly and brakes fully in a straight line.
3. Brakes - if you lean on them there is a droning noise. I wonder if this is normal or the pad type.
4. Clutch - slight, and I mean slight, judder on take up
5. Has anyone had a Wayne Scofield remap on one of these? Worth it? Expected results?
6. Repaired front splitter is already dead again. I have an RS one to put back on.

Given the age of these cars and based on my knowledge of my 996 turbo, the cumulative effects of gradual wear and tear on suspension consumables can be considerable. In this regard, I can highly recommend a trip to Center Gravity, who are so well versed in all of this they will likely have all of the requisite bits on the shelf already.
Yup don't worry it will be paying a visit to Chris and chums. Although I'll whip the dampers myself off and get them rebuilt at Bilstein direct as we have a trade account.BrotherMouzone said:
Does it ‘feel’ like to you that it would benefit from a remap? Mk2 engines are generally very strong, perhaps get it on a roller first?
Just to smooth out a couple of lumps. BrotherMouzone said:
Edit to add, great job on the splitter.
I managed to rip it off 3 times on the trip. RS splitter now added!I've also managed to fit one of those Bluetooth optical units to the Becker head unit, without cutting into the factory wiring. It emulates the CD changer, and was about £120 from Amazon, so much cheaper than a Denison... Works well and you can control it with the OEM head unit! Did need to persuade the OPC to recode the radio to get it to work.
Finally, when I shut the car down after a run, the evil water cooling burbles and gargles like a radiator with air in it. I know these engines are really just giant kettles, but is this just a standard characteristic? Coolant level is fine, doesn't overheat and no gunk anywhere.
No noises like this on my other Mezger - just a massive fan!!
