Discussion
I contacted the manufacturer again after reading this thread and have had a response:
Mr. Beaumont,
Thank you for your inquiry and interest in our products.
Unfortunately, we do not offer wheels in your requested diameter. Due to the unique methods used to manufacture carbon fiber wheels it is not possible to produce custom “one off” or low volume wheel sets to order. The engineering and tooling costs make this impractical. I am sorry that we cannot assist you with your request.

So based on this I can confirm that going CF rims on a 996 will actually increase the weight of the wheel/tyre package quite considerably over the lightest alloy alternative (to the tune of about 6.6kg total would be my estimate). This is of course only looking at this from a purely weight saving perspective. Aesthetics and tyre profile choices may take a higher precedence in your decision making. For me, the weight saving was the most significant factor

Oh yes! I take back my earlier comment. They look fantastic on the right car / colour scheme. Out of interest, how much is a replacement wheel if you kerb one? https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en...
I understand that some US owners have bought insurance for circa $600 to cover any damage.
