Unfortunately one of the doors of my 997 has been keyed. Mark is deep, catches fingernail etc, too big for SMART repair.

Looking for a well trusted shop to put it right, hopefully SW London but suggestions welcomed for anything around. If anyone has a recommendation I'd be really grateful.

I have spoken to Tom at 911V who suggested AutoBodyTechnic and I've done some searching on here but not found a definitive suggestion yet.

Thank in advance!

Just had the rear bumper on my 996 resprayed by Merton Crash Repairs. I can recommend them. I have a friend who runs a showroom and he put me onto them. He uses them all the time.

When you say it can't be smart repaired how do you know?

I only ask because mine was keyed on Friday, can't be polished out but i thought a chips away type place could do it without the need for the whole door to be done.

Scratch is a foot long.

Thank you, Smollet - will give them a call.

I contacted two smart repairers (one being Chips Away) and sent them photos/descriptions - they told me it couldn't be done via that method because of the location (above door handle, gets a lot of light) and it would likely need to have the door resprayed and blended into the rear-quarter panel.

My damage is about 20-25cm.

A little further away from you but I have used Chris at E&A coachworks in Wembley several times. They do a lot of work on classic and modern Porsches, great finish and very easy to deal with.

A silly question, but if it's not penetrated the primer why bother ?

I had mine keyed some years ago and had an idea where and who ... and inwardly laughed whenever I imagined that he had hoped that he had pulled one over on me.

Come sale time, there was a lot more tidying up of sills and front PU to be done ... and I got it all done at one go. Bootiful smile

If we stopped bothering, they would stop doing it.

I would highly recommend Grimshaw Wake in Hampton
They’ve done amazing work for me
Ask for Dean and try and get Garrick to do the work

Would second the vote for Grimshaw Wake (I was their first painter about 35+ years ago). As a second option, I would suggest Premier Panel Skills in Farnham. They do all the paint for Porsche Centre Guildford. Just did a paintless dent repair on my new GTS and I really cant see where the dent was.

A bit further afield, but SL Restoration (http://slrestoration.co.uk/) in Crawley were excellent when my neighbour reversed into mine.

They are Porsche approved (if that is important to you), and will collect from London.

Let me know how you get on assuming you do.
They’ll be doing my bonnet in September

Bump - a couple of companies mentioned above. My non-Porsche but equally loved E92 M3 needs some road-rash removed from the front bumper (maybe a respray) along with a couple of door scratches. Anyone had recent experience of the above and can point me to one of them - happy to drive out to Surrey as well.

Will cost you a small fortune and make sure the boss isn't on holiday when the work is being done! They had to redo mine after a sloppy job, failed to paint bits they should have, painted other bits they shouldn't have and there were other issues.

I will not use them again.

I've used:

https://www.eacoachworks.com/

They were recommended by Porsche Reading. Chris and the team were great.

Louis Wan - used to be chips away but started on his own

He does excelent work and can do SMART repairs that others can't. Very good prices & has worked on all my cars, send him a few pics and see what he says, he has high standards & is honest and if he says he can do it well that would be good enough for me

There's a well regarded bodyshop in Langley, near Slough, called Autobody Technic, who specialise in Porsche and BMW. Not to be confused with the insurance company favourite Bodytechnics in Slough though.
