Useful thread as I have this issue too. I can make it happen by unloading the suspension at low speed on say a big speed hump or a poor road surface which makes the cage sound like someone is hitting it with a small hammer slowly in succession. I think something which is connected to the suspension is loose or has too much play under maximum travel and when it comes back the clash is amplified by the cage where its mounted to the rear top mounts.

Booked into my local OPC so I will report back.
What was the outcome please

Just to add to this, my car went back to the OPC (Cambridge) and they said yes they saw a problem, and replace my rear wheel steering system. Great I thought. Then when the car came back, the clank if anything was worse frown

So I think they spotted a different problem with the RWS that I didn't notice, and not the clanking. So it's going to go back again. It's been on two GT3's that I've driven which does seem very coincidental, but it doesn't sound right so I'd like to resolve what this noise is.
