Watch market is now in a unique place. A lot of business people you meet now don't have a swanky watch, just some type of fitness-tracking watch, because increasingly, that's where it's at. Add in the utility of the other tech too and it's easy to see how things are headed.
TAG Heuer's first attempt at a smart watch is really a bit meh, but it is nonetheless a nod in the right direction.
most wear 2 watch's I find !! I hate fitness watch's though, if you want to get fit go for a run and stop drinking, it's pretty basic, bit like smart meters in the house, all pointless, save money turn a light off !TAG Heuer's first attempt at a smart watch is really a bit meh, but it is nonetheless a nod in the right direction.

46MM Tag Heuer Connected is my daily.... three years on, and i still love it... does all i need it to do... tells time, give notifications, looks like a cool watch rather than a gadget. Don't need apps or intercom. The subsequent models seem less special to me even if they are more glitzy.

Clearly, you don't hang around with many very fit people, because I can tell you, the bare minimum most of them (now) want to know is their current heart rate and resting heart rate for the day. My resting gets as low as 47 when I'm doing plenty of mtb in the summer, but my mate who's won World 24hr endurance races is mid 30's, which is IIRC, pretty much Schumacher territory. An elevated resting rate is a very good early warning.

The thing is with the better smart watches, like Apple, Samsung ans Garmin, is the superb interaction with heart rate monitors and also GPS. It logs activity and routes automatically. The subsequent models seem less special to me even if they are more glitzy.

I had an Apple watch for 1 weekend and returned it on the Monday.
Would revisit Apple Watch again some day, but for now if the Tag Connected for me, plus other nice mechanicals for special occasions.

Yeah I know - I had a fitbit for ages. Wanted to love Apple Watch.. but they are gadgets. I wanted something that was more like a real watch, and could do without all the other gubbins. I play basketball up to national league level - but not really that bothered about heart rate.. so its a personal thing really... but do agree its a mandatory feature for any 'smart watch' today.

IKWYM about the iWatch, they are definitely a bit Mickey Mouse. Mine was a present from the Mrs, so I gave it a go and the whole tech/integration thing really grabbed me, but...I had an Apple watch for 1 weekend and returned it on the Monday.

... if TAG made one with GPS and a heart rate monitor, I'd grab one in, well a heartbeat.
Funny world, watches, I wear a Fenix 3 for 2-6 hours per day, depending on what the schedule is, then after a shower replace it with one of either a Speedmaster, Railmaster or Seamaster. Or my Seiko, if doing DIY.
When I was properly training I wore an HR strap for a 24 hour period once per week to log resting/sleeping/active HR (this was before laser HR in the watch, which I still don't have, but would be convenient with the amount of travelling I do these days, for e.g. I'm in Utah right now with the Fenix, and the HR strap is hanging on the stand at home).

Who needs a watch, my phone tells the time! Seriously they look nice, I purchased a breitling navitimer 01 about 8 years ago, got a great deal on it, second hand price for a brand new watch...........now the prices are a joke. I rarely wear it and it costs more to service than car. No positives really apart from its value is more than i paid lol
I've got a TAG Heuer Monaco which is not hugely valuable, but IMHO looks great and has enormous sentimental value: Mrs and I stayed on a boat in Monaco to watch F1 for our engagement and, in the airport, flying home, there was a Gulf liveried 917 which was, as it turned out, a trap to get you into the TAG shop...
I will wear that on high days and holidays perhaps, so I can see the fuss about a nice watch.

Mine's the blue Steve McQueen one. Don't really know what mine would fetch, but as the majority of value is sentimental, that's moot. If I go anywhere where I can't wear my normal scruffs then it's the go-to now.
The classic blue Steve McQueen Monaco is a thing of beauty. I had one and sold it to part fund the refurbishment of some wheels, huge mistake! The Surveyor said:

McQueen is a hero of mine and what more can I say?

The 4.0 ltr has always been overvalued against the 3.8,ltd production but not rare!
I have decided to sell my 3.8 rs,one owner from new and only 8000miles,which is less than half price than some of the 4.0 ltr versions, and no better or different a car.
R is is obviously a steel rolex expert now, with bunkum about rolex steels dropping like a stone, just go and try and purchase a sought after model which are in ltd supply,or try and buy a quality vintage version, and i mean quality vintage not some tat thats had replacement dials, polished the life out of and no provenance,a bit like historic porsches really.
there are 1000's for sale because they make money, every banker in London wears one as does every one on you tube. (in gereral)I have decided to sell my 3.8 rs,one owner from new and only 8000miles,which is less than half price than some of the 4.0 ltr versions, and no better or different a car.

I just bought the Great white Omega 300, it's a better made watch with a better movement and you can buy one in a shop and go home with it on for 1/2 the price of a Sub, and no one else has one !
I have Rolex's from 6 or 7 years ago to see what the fuss is about, got lucly as was pre boom so have a few nice pieces at below list, prices have dropped if you want to sell, every one who wants one to wear has one.
vintage is different as they are not made any more, but Rolex knock out 100's of thousands watches every year , LTD lol come on...bar the steel Daytona you can buy any watch within a few months if you have a rep with your dealer.
nothing new regarding the price drops on 2nd hand stock, why the shock ?
I will keep my 50th Sub as it's mint and a nice thing and about the rarest steel watch Rolex have made in numbers the last 15 years , but nothing is rare really.
But I am an Omega man at heart. And the plus on that is you don't look like a tw4t :-) I don't actually like wearing a Rolex now due to the type of people who DO wear them !!! just happy to keep as investments now.

On all my expeditions there was only one watch of choice for reliability with poor weather, low temps and water.
Some watches are rare,very rare.
The later monacos are not cool, just a replica of the real deal, omega produce some great watches.
