Back to GT3s since this thread seems to have taken over from the main GT3 thread..Yesterday in my 991.2GT3 braking very hard from a long straight into a tight corner, my GT3 exhibited some rear end instability at peak braking, a bit like it was trying to pull left and right simultaneously.Tyre pressures were fine so i'm wondering if its needs a geo or maybe RWS needs re-calibrating..
Anybody else experienced this i wonder..?
What was the road surface like?
maybe a bit of Brake Force Distribution and Diff coming into play also?
Also, possibly (perhaps?) either tramlines or severe cambers in the road surface?

Not that, but I do find the abs quite intrusive relative to other cars I have had .

I suppose it could be any number of things, but since the RWS is extremely sensitive to geo settings its time to have mine checked as its passed 2K miles..I want a good fast road geo with occasional track use but nothing too extreme where the car starts following white lines..
Trouble is where to go and without experimenting(costs) i need to get the right settings straight off.. Do OPCs have the expertise or do they automatically always revert to OEM settings as i've found out in the past, which is not necessarily a good thing..

Any decent shop should be able to do a set up for you, from experience the OPC will only set within the range of OEM settings.

All the usual suspects, JZM, FS, CG etc depending on where you are located.

It wasn't an ABS issue i experienced but interesting what you said..Is it me or as the GT3 passes 2K miles it really loosens up and now the proverbial rocketship..It now feels faster than my old 991.2 GTS where due to the turbos it didn't feel as tight as my GT3 did at running in miles.IME all NASP GT Porsches need a few K miles to perform at their best, which makes it even more depressing when you see them for sale at OPCs having only done a few hundred miles.
It makes you wonder why some GT Porsche buyers wanted them in the first place as they are truly amazing cars to drive, the GT3.2 engine is a masterpiece when fully run in.

ETA Just checked and now only 23 .2GT3s for sale on the OPC website including three Tourings and in comparison 33 T's for sale..

[quote=TDT]By the way..congrats to all contributors on this thread... we've transformed it into a driving thread.

driving

It really has, a much more convivial place to be, and proof that a rotten apple shouldn't spoil the barrel.

Always found that with Porsche ,and usually a good
10k on the clock before the engine feels like it’s
Giving its best.

I've had it on track if there's a camber change or I have too much steering angle applied.

Mine now has over 5500 miles . A trip to Ireland and Scotland, and out and back to the Nurburgring and a gentle run at the Porsche Club Ireland Kirkistown track day last month in Northern Ireland.

It’s by far the best car I’ve ever owned, maybe !

mine also does a little bit, but then the GT4 did massive style until I mono balled the toe links.

GT3 not so easy as it's multi link and more parts, but I am trying to get the part numbers from the RS which bits are monoballed over a GT3 and then maybe fit those to mine with a nice geo, I find at speed above 120 mph the front is a bit floaty, so dropping the front a little also.
As we all did that ride height posts a few months back every ones cars were all over the place, so a geo is best done to get some sort of normal. thank goodness for lift as now I can drop the car quite a lot and lift pays for it's self straight away, other wise a car with no lift would have been unusable with the drop going onto mine.

thing is the Porsche parts sheets is not easy and lists many part numbers but not just no sections just whole parts, !!

might have to go motorsport parts over RS parts for some items.

Cup 2s. I’d estimate they are 50%% worn now. This seems better than previous Cups but the time of year and other factors influence wear. More than happy with them, that said I’d have welcomed a chance to compare them with the Dunlop’s. Maybe I’ll replace them with Dunlop’s when the time comes.

Wonder if Michelin do the Pilot Sport 4S in RS sizes ? I’ve been using the Pilot Sport 2 on my race car for the wet and not only are they ace in wet but good in damp or not 100% dry too.

Dunlop's seem good in wet and cold , but not that great on track , will try again today on standard set up as have not had time to change that yet ...

Looks like the Pilot Sport 4S's are an option for the RS - N rated too. Are you thinking switch to those for the winter? I was considering the same for the GT3.

I have the Dunlops on my GT3 and find them surprisingly good in the wet, although i'd love to put Michelins PS4Ss for the winter months for added security and useability.
On another note how much quicker is the new RS compared to the .2GT3 according to owners who have owned and DRIVEN both..? I'm asking this question as after passing 2k miles in my GT3, i'm really starting to gel with it, probably as the engine has really loosened up it now feels really quick..During the run in the engine felt tight and if anything slower then my GTS however now the table has been turned.

I've just put 4S's on my .2GT3 for the winter. Tread depth far deeper. Early days yet but felt more controllable on the one wet day we've had

Taffy ,guess not much it is merely more optimised /stiffer for track and use of stickier tyres , if you want quicker , try the 720S ...... another world.

How do you chaps assess the latest as a snapshot with regard to supply and latest asking prices ? I know some of you, have made spreadsheets of such. Thanks
