yes (at least I think it was Autocar, definitely 720 vs Senna)
Now that's interesting. What was the result? Perhaps the 720 did very well and McLaren weren't best pleased.Going o/t but my God this looks ace - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8z3Fg-7VLE

It did ok I guess. Am still amazed that the McL lapped faster on inferior Tyres in the SportAuto test though

Indeed and slower than the 720S on the Anglesea Coastal Circuit in this months EVO and slower on the Autocar dry handling circuit than the 720S (and Huracan Performante)... admittedly on inferior tyres to the McLaren on that particular test.Indeed great value for money those 720s ....
The 991.2 Turbo S seems to do better against the McLaren than the GT2RS. The 720S though is a beast. One U Tube clip from the US has it doing a 10.02 second standing quarter mile...
The thing with McLaren is every new car is SO much better than the last one, it does not make you want to buy an older model, or a new one as they drop in price crazy fast due to the next new ones !!
today 600LT is the best car they make and so you can buy a £200k 570s now for £110k !
Tomorrow it will be the 600lt spider. As McLaren know how to make a Spider just as stable and fast so it's always the car people want.
and in 3 months the car to have will be the 760LT then 6 months after than the 760LT Spider and then lets not forget the 3 seater model due out next year ! they are pumping out cars which are tech fests and like computers out of date in 6 months. it's worse than Lotus lol
Very risky buying new McLarens. And very expensive if you like Carbon, £185k starting price with test cars at £245k !
what we need is a 600lt vs GT3RS vs Performante group test
then a GT2 RS vs SVJ vs Pista vs 760LT (it's coming we all know it, they wait to see what the Pista can do then will beat it)

Only the very silly paid £200k for a 570s, I certainly paid an awful lot less for mine. External carbon packs are the expensive (upto £40k!) options, not needed other than for vanity.today 600LT is the best car they make and so you can buy a £200k 570s now for £110k !

Not quite a group test but Sutcliffe thinks a GT3 RS wouldn't be able to stay with the new (best McLaren yet...) 600LT on a track.what we need is a 600lt vs GT3RS vs Performante group test

What ever you think of McLaren, they're moving the goalposts all the time, same with Lamborghini with the Performante and Porsche with their next GT models, the added competition can only be a positive. Porsche aren't going to sit back and let the 720 beat the GT2RS in a sprint, they'll be working to make the next one launch even faster... win win.
I love the new McLarens however would never consider a new one.Its on my shortlist next year if i can time the trough in the depreciation curve. The next gen GT2 RS will need to become mid engine IMO as its already too much rear weight biased..I suspect its this inbalance in weight distribution is behind the fact its losing some US group tests as well as Autocar's recent roadtest.

Also for most it's not about speed, all these cars are way way fast enough, it's about how they feel to drive, and can the 600lt out place the GT3 for that yet ? no Macca yet has been fun to drive, you are just buying performance :-( agan can the 600LT bring the life back to driving over getting hung up on doing the ton in 5 seconds.
I has a 570S for a day it felt like the Golf of the super car world and now reading the 600lt reviews makes the 570S not a drivers choice car at all.

I'm a Porsche admirer rather than an expert, but won't the next GT2 have to be mid-engined to homologate the format for the GTE class RSR cars at Le Mans? The Surveyor said:

Irrespective of homologation rules i think the next GT2 RS will have to be mid engine to keep up with the competition..Either that or make it 4WD which will restore balance and allow more power albeit with a 50Kg weight penalty..My money is on mid engine..Taffy66 said:

The current rsr is mid engined already. Road car does not need to be mid engined for homologation.Gassing Station | 911/Carrera GT | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
