Interesting, the lack of LSD and the resultant wear on the rear ceramics is a good point, especially when showboating but you can as you say replace with steel.

I'd like to try one at some point for sure, I did get a 20 minute drive on some local roads in RG's, he was not impressed :-)

It needed a new gearbox at 800 miles, which kind of worried me. He's moved on to GT2RS and Performante now.
At least he cant shove the gearstick through the dash on the gt2rs;)nice pair of cars.
I am sure like other makes there can be issues, not heard of many with replacement boxes so far,i always drive mine in sport sport unless on track,it seems fine so far!
Its a diificult choice, porsche are a known at the moment and always a good weapon of choice.
Indeed!

I don't think there's a bad choice that's the thing, the issue is too much!

Note AP calipers and steels being used on this one (it's pretty nippy too) :

Dont understand why they need to mess with the 720 for more bhp, looks like the mapping is a bit brutal, and of course track days are not the place for comparisons unless similar drivers.

Tempted H!

The one thing it certainly does not need is more power! The 'clonk' on some of the down changes doesn't sound good.

that 720 is scary fast - wonder how durable they are with this kind of use (as a standard car/without increasing hp).

Very durable, you should see the state of the pre production models, desert, ice, snow, gravel, mud etc,the v8 is a strong oh engine, the carbon tub is something else when you see it in bare bones.[url]

This looks nice, also with the FX now the lefty 991 RS.2 will be around £200k GBP for a second batch Weissach if they do that option:

Sure 911r will be in a state of apoplexy us talking about Mac's on the Porsche forum!

Think I would go 675LT rather than 720S if I do.

Looks nice, that colour is amazing up close, not sure i could live with the orange,i do have some spare slim frame person seats with orange sides to matchsmile
The car in production

Got the more sedate colour, but all the bells and whistles.

Just to finish with a porsche theme of drivers and there cars,do you remeber this.

Brilliant mate, your's looks spot on in that colour even with a midget driving it!! I don't think I'd fit in the slim frame seats without a Playtex girdle.

I am drawn to them I must admit, will see next year what happens with the 991.2 RS.

Thick end of £2 mill now that lot sat there. I remember waking up in the morning with a throbbing hangover thinking it was still the middle of the night - there was a foot of snow on the Velux window!!!

Happy flipping days.... Before flipping means what it does now, it hadn't been invented then.

Just for people who may be interested, the grand total purchase price THEN of those cars was probably around £250k :-)

£85k for a 1 owner 993GT with 21k klms.

I'm not as confident as yellow491 about the durability of the Mclaren cars I have to admit given long term personal experience and what I know from other owners but the cars absolutely are great to drive, especially the 675 which really is phenomenal car, definitely the pick of the bunch out of the modern Mclarens imo.

I would love a 675, but just too expensive to purchase for me for now.

Also a little worried about the complexity given that to really use it, it would have to be a kinda track day car with Autobahn blasts in-between/to get to tracks. I'd probably daily it during summer too, so would add a lot of mileage/wear (don't so much care about depreciation as I buy to keep anyway).

I will wait for what the service on my Scuderia costs after only 4 track days and 15k km since purchase. Already got new exhaust backbox, brake pads and tyres this year and will need a new 5k windshield, not even serviced yet (have only owned it for 11 months with a 5 months winter hibernation break [not my choice, no winter tyres]).

I think I just don't make enough money to own these cars and use as intended .... and anything else makes no sense to me

Even the FF - the supposed Ferrari winter car - rusts like there is no tomorrow (just waiting for the to tell me the stupid little screws on the brake discs are rusted so much that I need to replace the entire disc)

maybe GT Porsches (or BMWs) are more my bracket (well, the FF will stay regardless of cost as I think there is no better daily /Autobahn/dog carrier/do-everything car in existence)

love the Porsche pic above, wishful thinking nowadays though

... and now someboday else can get this back on topic

Do they make booster seats for Mclaren's as the drivers seem very short ..... maybe suffer that complex.Had a few years with Ferrari both in road a race cars .. and it was very costly .

Find some better vids mansmile shocking build up and rev off nonsense.
The 720 would have still done the same standard probably,as would the lt,even may be the 540.
