Yesterday in Austria. Last drive on the way to winter storage having just passed 10.000 km. (mornings turning frosty here in Austria).
I'm planning a trip to Austria setting off this Wednesday in the GT3 we are picking up tomorrow. Any chance of some advice and suggestion for hidden gems of roads we should visit? And advice regarding roads being closed at this time of year etc. Any input would be greatly appreciated. The plan is to stay to the west to incorporate a bit of Italy and Switzerland but I'm open to local knowledge.Thank you.
Head down to Munich. From there take the A8 towards Kufstein. From Kufstein go to Kitzbuhel. There you over Pass Turn towards Mittersill and then through the Felbertauern Tunnel towards Lienz. In Lienz you have a choice. Left towards Großglockner and have a go up the Hochalpin Strasse and down again and then go south towards Udine. This route takes you over the Reschenpass and into Italy. Or (from Lienz) turn right towards Sillian and Innichen/Candido on the Austrian / Italian border. Here you go across the Monte Croche Pass ( Kreuzbergpass) and towards Bolzano and the motorway towards Treviso and Venice. Great driving toads. The Monte Croche has been newly tarmac‘ed so its wonderful to drive. Watch out for tumbling temperatures at night as the metro for the end of this week says snow so check before you leave as you would not want to go there in snowfall. Bonne Route !

however i suspect a saturday would suit most due to various work commitments.May i provisionally say Saturday on November 10th at say 11AM..We could grab a bit to eat and have a chin wag about cars and take it from there.
..
not for me sorry to say :-(..
being stuck in Wales at 11am on a Saturday don't seem fun.
I am up for hoons and meets but really they need to be 6/7am Sunday mornings and then a meet for Brunch after a good drive.
But I'll be at Caffeine&Machine this Sat ... and I hope to work one evening and get my bypass on if any one wants to hear it.
Prob be at Silverstone Sunday also.
I am up for proper trips and meets, euro hoons or early morning drives going forward.

I'm taking into account that for some its a few hours drive to get to Rhug which will be a hoon in itself..The time can be altered but bearing in mind the cold and dark mornings with mid November temps in North wales, this is just an informal gathering which will hopefully lead to better things in the future..being stuck in Wales at 11am on a Saturday don't seem fun.

I'm all in for a euro hoon sometime next year which will take a lot more time to organise with a trip to Spa or/and Ring..
