Nice Lowndes ..... I smell a 600LT...... have a few friends getting them and they are special
I've never been an early adopter Hunter, ........so not 600LT this time but maybe later; my style is more hiding in the shadows while they sort out the gremlins then picking up the odd bargain as the fashion moves elsewhere.

I've a 19 plate McLaren due at the beginning of March next year and I do find your statement somewhat perjorative; though you are of course entitled to your view. Whether in different circumstances I would choose to air in a way similar to you a negatively held view is another matter.

This Chris Harris video could be worth another watch:

I watched that video about 3 months ago, made me realise what a complete weapon the 650S is. At £125k for a 650S or a 570S, it's a tricky choice, albeit a McLaren salesman said to me when the first 570S came out and both they and the 650S (secondhand) were £150k, he'd go for the 650S because it was more "special ".

Hey lowndes, what a life style you have there;),nice weather, great scenery, open roof maca, what more can you ask for, well may be the cgt there instead of the maca, but that 650 is/was a great road car.

Bit surprised you didn't go for a 675 tbh. Be interesting to see how you get on with the 720 wink

650 is growing on me - always thought it looked disjointed, but recently have been looking at used ones more. Coupe with buckets for me please ...

Lovely colour and location

Steady on chaps, we are underestimating 911R's knowledge and driving abilities, here he is giving this years Nurburgring 24 hour winner's Sport Auto Performante lap time some pointers!

Why do you guys bother replying to 911R lol? Whatever he calls himself, he has always been a tt.
You wouldn’t bother wasting your breath on him in real life, don’t waste it here.

Cool pic of the 650 smile

Back on topic. I have several friends who are very decent peddlers and who’s opinions I respect that very much rate the Maclaren. Some of the also own 991GT3’s.

Agree Steve ,Have driven or be in onTrack , 675LT ( driven ) , 720 and 488 ( Driven ) , they are a step especially on the straights the power makes the RS feel a bit gutless . Like being in. class 2 car though you can make time up by being better in the twisty bits ...
Pista does seem a big step forward

Personally a 675LT or 720s with buckets appeals and depending on what happens with the FX and Brexit my option on a new LHD gen 2 991rs second batch may sway to a Macca. My reservation is I love the NA Porsche engine although it’s slower and have a long term relationship with Reading that’s second to none, and finally not 100% sure a Macca would be durable enough for sustained track abuse.

Will have to have one at some point and maybe a 570s just to see what they are all about as an ownership proposition.

My 991rs did 10k miles and 20 hard track days in 2 years and apart from new PCCB’s under warranty and Consumables it was unburstable - and believe me I tried!- and that’s the benchmark.

That would be my worry. The GT3's are so well engineered. Most drivers don't appreciate the track reliability of even the most vanilla 911 let alone a GT3

Get that jk maca bought at the right price, lot of car with lots of special parts, amazeing car, daft to try and sell it over here for good money.
The engine and box are fairly bomb proof, gearboxes can be repaired at sensible money if its a problem or concern, the tub is second to non.
Rear brakes discs may be the only real issue if sliding it about ,but with all turned off it does not interferior until a very late point, and as lsd again minimal wear unless sliding alot.
For brake wear, again far better than most as the airbrake is something to behold,if you nail the brakes like in a porsche, you overbrake and need to come off.

I don't think it's unfair to say a Mclaren isn't going to do as well as a gt3 rs being hammered repeatedly on track. Until the 720 cooling can sometimes be a problem in very warm weather and the powertrain isn't as robust as its sometimes made up to be imo. Brake wear I think is less of an issue as there's ways around that (iron or surface transforms). However where the Mclaren road cars really excel are being awfully good road cars that can be tracked and are lightning quick around said track.

That nails it for me; and is why I'm more interested in the road going end of the McLaren spectrum. Ironically the thing I liked about the jk car was LHD whereas the thing that put me off was 675.

Tbh other than a supertanker like turning circle, a 675 is a brilliant car on the road, as yellow491 said it has excellent road manners. The track focus thing is imo vastly overplayed by the manufacturers.
