The RWS basically shortens the wheelbase around town and makes the car mire nimble and easy to turn / park and simulates a longer wheelbase one up to speed making it more enjoyable and stable on the motorway. It is not a track only item. Having has it on my past 2 911s I would never buy a car without it.

I'd second that. Had it on 2 normal 911's (as well as GT cars) and have spec'd it again. Try it, its one of the few options that affects the way the car drives

I have a 991.2 GT3 which I have been using daily since April last year. RWS is not an option I'm enamored with to be honest. Each to their own I suppose.

I'd agree - each to their own. Best way is for Leithen to try it back to back.

How are you getting on with the GT3? - I've had mine a while and been using as a daily over the winter

I think the rear looks so much better with the SportDesign package.

Unfortunately no chance of that before the order spec is locked down.

Henry Catchpole has advised both RWS and Sports Exhaust.

I could drop the sunroof and the wood interior and end up with roughly the same cost.

I'm also intrigued by the sports exhaust - if I understand correctly, it can be "switched on" - is it any different than the standard exhaust when not activated?

Yes, and the answer was that there are no Factory Collections available due to Brexit. Porsche GB dictum apparently...
Not sure I believe that tbh. More likely to do with it being winter at the moment, and cars in Germany in winter require winter tyres, which is hassle. Add to that, that I was told the factory collection centre the uk customers used is no more as they built the taycan factory over it so factory collections weren’t available in 2018 at all (certainly wasn’t an option last March when I got my car)

All those asking about sports exhaust, if you have to ask or are unsure, spec it!

Makes a big difference on my 991.2 GTS, and is really coming aIive after 7000 miles (and I came from a 981 GTS, one of the best sounding Porsche’s), the beauty being that if you don’t want the noise you don’t have to, but if you did and hadn’t specced it, that’s an expensive car to be disappointed in the sound.

RWS is also a must imo, so many reasons to, one of the main ones being manoeuvring around carparks, it’s so nimble, turning circle is so much better, and that’s before you even consider the driving benefits.

Has anyone specced the night vision or all round camera, those would definitely be on my list for a 992.

I read gears 7 and 8 on the PDK are purely cruising gears and max speed is still in 6th gear.

Also, that the car has an anti-attention seeking mode for towns, whereby it won’t let you rev the engine if the gps shows you to be in a town centre, interesting concept. Pretty sure the PDK also does the rolls Royce thing whereby it uses the satnav to prep the next gear based on corners and inclines etc.

Some nice new features, I’d be loading all the tech on there personally. Bring on the GTS!

My 991.2 GT3 has a stationary rev limit of 4k rpm....I believe/read somewhere it’s emissions related.

I heard that was most new cars had that, not sure how true it is.

This is the link I read about the new features, very interesting read. Number 7 is the gearbox stuff limiting it from revving in town.

https://www.topgear.com/car-news/future-tech/nine-...

Also talks about max speed being in 6th gear only.

I had a friend tell me today that he'd been asked to confirm his spec by his OPC within the next week or so as it appears his order will be built in April (as long as he doesn't do a PTS colour).

Update: I have now got a delivery date.... on my birthday! well P being P this will usually come forward, I was the first at my OPC to spec a 992 however they had 4 allocations for the first batch so guess myself and the rest will come at same time.

100% Spec RWS ive had it on last .2GTS, and have it on current 2RS and love it around town, i however i have not spec the PDCC as im going C4s and on my last .2GTS felt it really did nothing for the car, i have it on my E3 2019 Cayenne and it works a treat purely down to the sheer weight of the thing.

Sports exhaust is a must, what with the particular filter fitted id guess you would be sorely upset at the lack of sound without.

Another important thing- 18 ways vs 4 ways...... ive had both in the past, If you are over 6" like myself, the 4 ways drop lower and i loved that, plus they are WAY cheaper, and in my experience many salesman will say its better for resale to spec the 18ways.... thats crap!

I think your OPC is misleading you with delivery dates.... I Spec'd my car on the day of release and was told March delivery. That however went back due to issues P was having with a now confirmed date of end of April.

That’s interesting, could well be true regarding dealer misleading me but I’m sure I’ve read first UK deliveries are end March? Unless this has been pushed back because of the issues you have just mentioned

Porsche garage will let me know my build date/delivery date tomorrow, they have said most likely March build.. April delivery. I was asked to sign a letter saying I’d have to pay 10% more for the car in the event of a “ no deal” Brexit

Maybe due to Brexit they are aiming to get as many cars as possible registered by 29th March.

Are you serious about them asking for that?
I'd sign f**k all!
If there's a no deal they might have to discount them for a shift. The appetite for 100k cars would be severely diminished for a bit, I'd imagine!

That's interesting. Which OPC is that- or if you aren't happy revealing the name, which group are they part of?

I think all dealers are in the same position.

The dealer i’m dealing with is part of Porsche GB , I also called a few other franchise dealers and they are in the same position, must be the reason why there are some slots available.
