so a quick question to those who have an order. Did your dealer make it conditional to take the watch? Its part of my deal and if I'm honest the condition is making me consider cancelling the order. The car is awesome, but to be stung for an additional £7-9k seems foolhardy and fairly manipulative of the dealer.
Is this the norm. for these cars as it would be my first RS
Cheers
Peter
It wasn’t the norm, but dealers are “refining” their process, so a lot of people who wouldn’t buy watches, take finance, and give cars back under value, have been replaced by those who will.Is this the norm. for these cars as it would be my first RS

Up to you how you what to play it. For me, Porsche makes cars, dealers sell cars.
If between them they what to manipulate demand to create extra revenue streams, that’s up to them, but it’s not for me.
It’s all based on the idea that a GT allocation is free money, and I’ll be interested to see what happens when that changes.
I might buy another one then, if they give me a watch and a discount. (Will be from a different dealer though)
Taking finance costs the square root of bugger all...you can pay it after a month...OPC still gets their commission at that stage. I’ll admit I’ve done it in the past when not needing it....cost me less than £100 which is about the cheapest way to elevate yourself in the OPC customer stakes there is.

Yes, that’s fine if you can afford to pay it off. I’ve done the same with an RS6 to get the extra discount.Different when you need or want finance. A friend on mine, very good customer of smoke dealer, wanted finance and could get much (much...) better rates than Porsche offered, but that would have counted against him.
So, people are stuck (by choice I admit) with higher rates, or no allocations.
It must be border line mis-selling in my opinion.
Probably not allowed to say which dealer, but it’s almost a Sin ter to do that, imo.

I've got a 992 coming shortly and based on reviews it seems to be a huge step up on the 991.2..To say i'm looking forward is an understatement as i'm addicted to trying out the latest cars..Incidentally this obsession only applies to Porsches and not to the latest 'i phones',TVs etc thank god.!
My thinking is if the base 992 versions are so wonderful why should we play silly games to get the latest GT version..Why not be satisfied with a 992GTS,992TT etc unless you're a serial flipper which i'm not..Buy the basic Porsches and save a huge wad of cash to put towards another make of car like a used Macca or Performante etc.

I don't mind taking a couple of fingers in the arse to have a car if there is a high demand for it and low availability. I won't take a fisting though. I'm glad to hear my mate has now been told he doesn't have to have the (£9k) watch.
Oliver Blume said recently Porsche will put greater emphasis on the (992) GT models. OPC's will be giving the watches away in a couple of years.

It’s ironic though that OPC’s are trying to extract more margin out of these cars at a time when the market has definitely turned a little bit softer. Factory shut down last year and Macan’s and Cayenne’s not flying off the shelves must have really hit profits in the last 12 months.
