Judging it by the mechanical/bodywork differences with a gts or whatever is missing the point surely. It's a collector car with a numbered run of 200 and this one is delivery mileage. That's why the price is what it is as finding a similar car that's not already in a collection is going to be rather tricky. Only a ocd Porsche collector with too much money on his hands (and there are plenty of them) is going to get a car like this anyway and they aren't exactly going to be bothered whether it's like a gts or not......

Same with any other car with a limited edition number plaque really.
Exactly and they won’t be all that price sensitive if they “require” delivery mileage for their collection

And that's what it's all about - production numbers. 250 SCs were built - which puts it at one of the lowest build numbers for the 911! It doesn't have to drive as well as a GT3, or be as fast as the turbo. Being built in such a low number accompanied with plaque means it's always going to appeal to the collector. Even if it didn't have the bubble roof or ducktail it'd still be as desirable.

For comparison - look at the 991 50th anniversary. No less unique than the 997 SC, but 1963 were built. Never going to be in the same price league as the SC.

Maybe I got a tad excited but it’s got a unique from bumper, roof, first 911 with a ducktail for a long time and rear bumper unique too I think amd the exhausts were different from anything else made at the time. And I suppose that body stripe was pretty unique too.

Paint was unique for a while until they released it to PTS a couple of years ago.

AFAIK Porsche are also pretty careful about not selling any of the body parts to anyone that doesn’t own one either, Even then I believe you need proof that you’ve knackered your ducktail before they’ll sell up you one.

You can order anything from an OPC if you know how. There's not really much on the SC that Porsche didn't eventually offer on either the GTS or in one of their catalogues. I'd say the most unique part to the SC is the roof. It's a shame Porsche didn't give it another 30-40hp on top of the powerkit, but then we must remember it's us (the market) that has valued it at these daft (?) prices. To Porsche it was just a limited edition with a plaque. I bet even they are scratching their heads at the asking prices laugh

Definitely not the same as the GTS...it’s got vents behind the rear wheels...exhaust is different and there’s a pronounced rear valance.

Have a look at the GTS JZM have

I’ve never read about anyone being able to get SC parts but obviously some people may have the right connections. I remember there was one member on 911 UK who happened across a set of SC wheels that an SC owner had ordered from I think OPC Bournemouth or Portsmouth and never collected. They’d had them for four years so we’re glad to sell them.

it is always about numbers. 993 project gold 1 of 1 just over £2.4 million which went to charity I believe

I don't think it is all about numbers.

Yes, when the market gets into dizzy spin, some people get carried away, but the most desirable collectibles are based on much more substance than the 997SC.

It’s classic JZM “estate agent “ behaviour. They’ve been at it for years.
Exactly This^
So have JZM become a free fancy storage/wash/polish/wax/trickle charging establishment?

Maybe I should SORN my car and let them 'Sell' it for me during the winter months for £1m, and have it back in the spring waxed and ready to go for the trackday season?

Yep I’m with you on that thumbup or to put it into perspective you could almost have both a:
Agreed. I can see there is a premium over lesser 997 models, but the whole exclusivity in and of itself does not IMHO warrant these sorts of values. And yes, I totally agree any sort of GT 997 would always be (to me) more desirable.

FYI Wheels on a SC are not unique to SC. I had a set on my 997.1 C4S cab. Mate has a set for his 997.2 and the fit any wide body 997 with 5 stud hub. Readily available to anyone from the tequipment catalogue a few years back (we got ours from OPC Reading). Not sure if they are still being sold. O

Big business when you want to charge £60 a week like they do ! Wonder how many people will fall for the fluff....I use a place about half an hour away because I am down a garage at the moment, £24 a week.

DK Engineering have a similar facility with 300 cars in it apparently....and I doubt any of those would ever get sold by anyone other than them. Nice business....

But that's not for SOR cars surely? That's my point. All these cars for sale at doolally prices. Either JZM want to shift them and make a profit, or they want store candy sitting there costing them money?
