They like their Manuels in the US!

Fastest colour but I'm sure steel brakes and comfort seats will have cost him a second or twosmile

I think Randy does all the driving.

I agree on the manual. I have a .1 and really miss not having a manual.

not in his car as it's honed to perfecting a lap and cost £££, what was more interesting is the 2008 GT3 RS at 1.33.13

But on here people say the new cars are not night and day , 10 seconds is a mighty gap from a 2008 RS to a basic GT3 today.

Not really a valid comparison, as the 997.1 RS was the least modified/focused GT3 RS Stuttgart has produced, added to which 10 years may as well be a lifetime in modern car engineering terms.

Furthermore, a quick look at the recent PH test of the new Huracan Evo shows it to be a smidge quicker around Nardo's handling circuit than the Performante ...

you might say the 997.1 RS had the lightest and thus the sweetest engine, has the wider track and the big wing though !

I have talked to people after owning a lot of GT products the 997.1 RS is their fav car over older or newer.
so while on paper it was a bit of a wash out and got slated as being the same car, to drive it seems quite the reverse and maybe the best car ! and atm looks the best value for an RS.

Are people missing a trick on this model due to the "lease modded " comments punted about on forums.

That does seem a lot, where are the times coming from? Are they same day same driver?

while other people might say how, I can tell you the cars are night and day apart.

Not surprising...the 997.1 GT3 is barely faster than a well set up 996.2 GT3.....one would expect the 4.0 latest 991 with RWS etc to be materially quicker.

(not slating the 997.1...I do like them)

Don’t disagree it’s what Porsche does each model gets quicker, but looking at the fastest lap times something is a miss with the 997.1 RS time as a M3 and R8 are showing to be quicker which isn’t correct. On a 1m 30 sec lap same driver / conditions I expected a 991.2 to be 5 secs-6 secs but not 10 secs.

look at the ring time 7.12 from standard 991.2 GT3 , 7.42 from the 997 GT3. it's 30 seconds ! or about a mile behind !

again the 997.2 run out hero RS 4.0 vs the 991.2 RS again 1 mile behind or 30 odd seconds.

Ring 12.9 miles therefore 2.3sec a mile, willow spring 2.5 miles which equates to 5.8 sec difference per lap. Still think there’s something dodgy with the 977.1 RS time.
5.8 sec is massive, shows how much Porsche has moved on in a decade.

Sorry, are you saying a 997.1 GT3 is the same pace as a 4.0RS? weird.

Also, you do know the tyres will be totally different in that comparison and the delta much smaller on same tyres. But yes the latest car is quickest.
