Taffy66/911 R I’d be interested to know if you think the video in this Instagram post by JCR is representative of what your exhausts now sound like/the improvement over OEM. Obviously they are comparing a GT3 and an RS...

The GT3 was muted, I hate fitting exhausts, but the GT4 sounded better than the GT3 imo, so did the Ti bypass.

I have done a few vids of my cars before with a pro mic set up on my SLR but not done the end results vid yet.
we can always meet for a coffee some where for a listen. on WOT it's amazing.

the best choice would be a silenced JCR ti bypass with remote switch option from Cargrapic imo. but that's £3k over a straight by pass at £1.6k.

you can then with a switch choose between oem ish and by pass.

I may well take you up on the coffee offer thumbup

Excuse my ignorance do you lose the ability to switch the exhaust like the OEM exhaust with the JCR ?

No, but the car turns the flaps closed even when on at 4k ish, so with your own switch you can have it open at 4k.

mine is better at 4k of course, but the flaps are closed even with sports exhaust on. I'll still buy the switch anyway to over ride it.

I have replaced an aftermarket one with a standard back box on a 3.8 997.2 GT3.

I think these fit a 991 but I am sure someone will put me right if it doesn’t.

Centre piece and tips surplus to requirements.

PM me if of interest, I would be happy to take some photos and ping them over.

Cheers

I think the 997 back box is slightly different to the 991..I'm pretty sure that's the case on the flange bolts however i stand to be corrected.

I bought a pre owned sharkwerks centre bypass for my 991.1 gt3 but never got round to fitting it, i flit back and forth with selling the car or not so it has just sat boxed, are you looking for more drama on downshifts whist remaining subtle or out and out obnoxious race car noises?!

Hi,
Recently bought a used JCR bypass for my 991.2, also unplugged the vacuum flap hoses which now gives nice down blips but renders the exhaust button useless. Noise is superb under full load.

Yes, finding it brilliant to be honest.Completely stunned at the traction it has with the Cups in the rain, the tread is quite a bit deeper than the Cups on my previous cars which were 5.7 mill new, guessing these ones are 7 mill new. Roll on the Spring.

I've got a GAD Race Engineering Titanium one on mine and could be happier.

Made in Essex only 10 miles away from my house by IWS Developments.

I’d like to add a by pass to my .2 gt3.
Don’t want race car but would like a little more drama. Are you selling yours potentially ?

Even though I may appear daft...

I know the X-pipe replaces the rear silencer but there is reference to H-pipes and X pipes and I am unsure exactly what is what ?

Anyone shed any light as I was quite interested in a Titanium options as I lobe the 'zing' and resonance to Ti

Speak to Anthony @ gad Race Engineering on 07824 322224 he'll run through the options on their Titanium systems. They do both H and X pipe from memory

Hey, oh no idea why PM's are blocked, in truth I rarely log in on this forum and just enjoying browsing from the phone!
yeah my sharkwerks is still around, just sat in a box... I think im going to go with a aggressive race pipe set up and ideally would love to swap this towards one..

for the guys that have had the rear back box only changed for jcr/sharkwrks etc;
1. did the bolts snap on removal of the oem/replacement ( i know one person above stated his did)

2. what dB readings are you getting for track day noise tests ?

I change back and forth from the centre box to a Sharkwerks on my car quite frequently. Do it on the drive and it takes less than two hours from start to finish. To answer your question, I snapped two bolts the very first time I swapped it. They gall up and then you can’t go either way. Best bet if you do it yourself is to apply thread lube to the bolts before removing the nuts. I’ve had no hassle since doing this. To answer the second part of your question, I spent a day at Snetterton with the Sharkwerks on and had no bother. Second day there I got punted off for noise. Then went to Silverstone on a damp track so wasn’t giving it the full beans and the stewards promptly gave me a very nice photograph of the car on the start/finish line pumping out over 105db and that was the end of my day. don’t risk track days with a bypass on.

I have changed my Sharkwerks bypass pipe in and out a few times with no issues on the bolts.

I have also run the car at Bedford and Brands Hatch which have low noise limits with the bypass fitted and not had any issues. I have got one of these though which helps https://uber9s.com/product/gt3-bolt-on-trackday-si... and literally can be fitted in around 20 mins. My car 991.1 GT3 reads 99.3 db at 4000 revs (static test) with one fitted and 103.5db without at 4000 revs without and just the bypass pipe.

Static noise tests you can tend to get away with as the car won't rev above 4000 revs in nuetral so it passes and on drive by you can short shift / avoid the noise meters if necessary.

This for me is the ideal solution as you can do track days and retain the bypass pipe on the car which really transforms it.
