That looked ace. It looks so right in person. I was the one coming up to ask you about my forthcoming green spyder.

Didn’t get chance to say hello to many of you but “met” a few of you on track.

Sound of the CGT down the pit straight was glorious! Thanks for bringing it!

I was in the shark 992.

Great day and the weather held. Windy and cold though for October, never mind August!
...and it looked great in that colour!

Here are three versions of the same pic smile

Great day and good to see many usual suspects (both cars and drivers)

A few Porsche pics from the day...

...oh, I didn't bring a Porsche. Shared a XBow with a friend.

Do the GT cars not have any noise issues on track?

No. It was a 'noisy' 120dB day. My car has OEM rear silencer, but JCR titanium valved side-silencer deletes and had no issues.

It sure wasn't a 120dB day! biggrin SS days are almost all invariably 102-105 dB drive by days that on practically any GT car will not be a problem unless you go out of the way to put something seriously noisy on.

Unless you are Lasource of course and get hauled up the naughty step for his 997 rs a few years ago for no particularly good reason....

Lol - the good reason was a sharkwerks centre bypass that was tripping the 107 driveby limit!

Silverstone has very generous noise limits (for uk tracks) and almost all OEM spec cars will pass it. Apart from the Lamborghini Performante! Or possibly a 360 challenge stradale. All porsches are fine.

Handful I took on Monday. I wasn't running my GT3 but my mate was running his (the red), we where tucked away at the end out of sight most the day! We seemed to suffer from tyre pick up quiet badly, anyone else experience the same?

Yes, pretty horrendous at times, lots of vibration from it. No idea why. Spoke to the instagram chap LordKinzo who had the Lava 991.1 GT3 RS and he was complaining about similar too.

I assume due to the track being so hard on the tyres there are plenty of cars shedding rubber. Unless we all followed exactly the same lines then the tracks going to be covered in rubber (as we all found out by the sounds of it).

There were quite a few slick-shod track/race cars too, so you were having to go off line perhaps more often than a regular car day too. I don't know.

SS isn't terribly hard on tyres (apart from front left) I think but as you said there was something a little strange with the track surface I think on the day. The tyres were very much more squeaky (and unusually so) than one would normally have expected in summer especially and grip levels were a bit lower than I had last found in June when there. Odd thing is usually the car is plastered in tyre marks after a trackday but there was hardly any on Monday!

That's completely true. There was so much pickup I had rubbing on the left front when turning left when I started the day just fine.
I was thinking it must have something to do with the pickup. I must be moving out of the way a lot.......

Track traffic was very decent. Enjoyed the day very much. I have another booked on 8 November.

Next up is Brands GP on 3 September. Anyone else going?

I had read (anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong or was reading something that did not apply) in the bit of the trackday Ts & Cs referring to in car video, that Silverstone did not want any crash footage published.

Do they do an online drivers briefing now on the Silvestone days? like a few other do. When i have attended their days in the past the chap that did the briefing was really strict about over or under taking in the corners. Anyone doing this just once was going home.
