Porsche GT track day
Discussion
Fantastic day guys, well done for all of us doing it!
Really good to meet the people I’d not met before and always great to see the interest the GT attracts it really is Excalibur!
Bit wet on the way home but apart from that marvellous.
There was talk of another meet at Silverstone on 6 August any other suggestions to keep up momentum?
Cheers

Great to hear you had a great time and this awful summer persistent rain gave you a miss..I was tied up with work however i'm really looking forward to another one soon..Unfortunately i'll be on vacation with my family in Menton on the French Riviera on August 6th so will not be able to attend on that date..
JC, did you give Mr D a few passenger laps in you CGT..?

Sorry to have missed you mate, Paul and I went hungry as we were patiently waiting for you to turn up and buy us lunch.JC, did you give Mr D a few passenger laps in you CGT..?
Suggest some other days after your hols.
Mr D and I had a very good chat and he has agreed to mend his ways and we will all play nicely on here, at the next day I’m happy to take him for a few laps.
I had several people ask for passenger laps in the GT which was great, I’d like to think it was my driving prowess and charisma, sadly not the case they just love the GT.
Whilst you lot were having fun at Donington I was getting instruction at Bruntingthorpe....not the most exciting place in the world but all about getting instruction in high speed cornering in a pretty safe environment. Had the track to ourselves for a while. Opened my eyes to what these cars are capable of....especially getting the instructor to show me how it’s done. Trail braking from 135 mph is not the easier thing in the world master....great when you get it right though. The whole lap is driven in 3rd/4th/5th which give an idea of the average speed.
Apparently at the last PCGB track day at Goodwood someone wrote off a 991 Cab....ouch!

What a cracking day! Weather gods were with us for sure. Lovely day until 5pm
I tried to come amd say hi to as many people but it is way a busy day, 2 hours putting the car back together, then struggling to find the balance, but it started coming together in tbe afternoon so i cramming in the seat time.
Great to talk to some of you.....feel absolutely shattered now.
August 6th, Silverstone GP with RMA. I'll be there for sure and spoke with a few guys from here who said they would be up for it, lets start it

Superb day. Great to meet everyone - faces old and new - it really adds something to the day when you are sharing the track with at least a few like-minded enthusiasts, as well as the plethora of trackday lemmings.
Massive thanks to JC, both for (dis)organising our group to get together in the first place, but also for the insanely enjoyable pax laps.
I had a bit of informal tuition yesterday (huge thanks to Keep It Lit) but it's definitely me, rather than the car, which is lacking in pace. I also noticed the improvement coaching made to RSVP911 yesterday. It's the way forward for me.

Would you mind sharing here (or in a PM if you;d rather not) who that was with?I had a bit of informal tuition yesterday (huge thanks to Keep It Lit) but it's definitely me, rather than the car, which is lacking in pace. Yep great day and pleased the weather held out. Apologies for any lack of sociability on my part, but as Digga says it was a school day for me.
I couldn’t agree more on your tuition comment - so many benefits, not least having someone with you that knows “the score” and can help you transition into an track environment that, if you’re not used to it, can initially be an overwhelming attack on the senses - so from a safety perspective I found it invaluable. Then, from an instruction point of view, I definitely got quicker as the day progressed (in fairness the starting bench mark was extremely low) and by the end of the day, I really felt like it was all starting to gel very nicely indeed ; there is absolutely no way I’d have ended up in this position without instruction.
This is the second time I’ve used Adriano at Adriano Medeiros Motorsport - what a star; he set the car up with camera’s and diagnostics equipment so we could watch back & discuss previous outings in real time during the day and he also sent me a video of my “best” lap (best being a very subjective term) and watching this will also really help going forward. He’s a lovely chap & has the patience of a saint. He also must have a modicum of talent as anyone who can make me go quicker must be a genius ! Digga, it may be worth you giving him a try (he’s based in Bedford I think but will cover any track in the country) Here’s the link to his website :

You’ll also be pleased to know I can’t do Silverstone on the 6th of August - so much safer/faster for all of you; there is however another one on September the12th that I may do instead if anyone is interested?

Will do he’s a PEC instructor so knows 911’s well. Met him through doing a PEC session, I know one other PH’er uses him too. I am going to do another Bruntingthorpe session with him some time in the next month or two...I found it really, really helpful. I asked him to do a few laps so I could actually see/feel what the car could do....made a massive difference.I had a bit of informal tuition yesterday (huge thanks to Keep It Lit) but it's definitely me, rather than the car, which is lacking in pace. My brain was pretty fried by the end of it....it was pretty intense!
It’s a great way to learn high speed cornering in a safe environment, we were the only car using the circuit for about half thetime...loads of run off apart from a few thousand Range Rovers that they can’t sell!
What a fantastic trackday - got lucky with the weather as no rain for the whole day - driving standards were generally good (apart from a few race Ginetta's that caused a few black flags) and there wasn't much traffic either.
Nice to meet a few peeps and put a face to a forum name at long last
I video'd a session towards the end of the day - following a couple of friends in Exige's - a 360 and a 360 Cup - hope you enjoy - such a great track

I saw you guys catching up before the last turn, so stayed wide onto the pit straight, then tried to follow behind. That didn't last very long. https://youtu.be/iA5yyNZg3Ko
