Porsche GT track day
Discussion
Silverstone is a bit bland (certainly compared to brands GP or Spa) but it's pretty easy to get to, has plenty of days where the sound police don't go crazy and lots of runoff.....so it's kind of the default go-to track for a lot of us I guess. And as a challenge to drive consistently good laps, it's a very good circuit for that I find although it can become a bit of a laptime challenge than just enjoying driving the car.
P.S new tarmac while nice to drive on is very annoying though in comparing to prior laps!

Agree easy for London ..... getting to Oulton is an ordeal , Ditto Cadwell..... never raced there as F3 was banned . If going to travel and want a nice track , I prefer just making the effort and going to Spa . A really nice stretch is also from the Dunlop Bridge to the Mulsanne P.S new tarmac while nice to drive on is very annoying though in comparing to prior laps!

First time I drove that was interesting, to say the least. Would it be 2003?Two years before the TVRCC had managed to get us onto the parade laps at 8am on the Saturday of the 24hr. A few things went wrong - fewer laps and too much traffic etc. - so, long story short, the ACO agreed to let us back again.
The laps were not a track day and our inaugural attempt was pedestrian. However, on the second running, the pace was better and, because of the intervals we were let onto the circuit, you had the chance to play catch up.
I did 'know' they'd radically altered the section after the blind crest of the Dunlop Bridge, but hadn't consciously thought about track layout. I managed to improvise and keep on the Tarmac.

Silverstone is too flat to be interesting, as are Thruxton and Snetterton... IMO of course. Donington and Cadwell have far better character, though not as much run off.
Thruxton, one of the best tracks in the country to race on,faster than silverstone, try 170 at the breaking point for the chicane!,sure it would be interesting then.Yellow491 said:

170!!!! Christ, what were you driving and do you carry your balls in a wheelbarrow? And yes, Thruxton definitely not boring.

OK, now I know I've condemned Silverstone for being bland, but check this out:
