Sorry to read about your incident John, hope you can get it sorted it out quickly.
Main thing is no one was hurt. All the best.
Cheers Tyrone..I'm trying to get another car up but looking unlikely due to the short notice..I might come up for some passenger laps as i've already booked two nights at the Alvaney arms..Luckily my RS has already had some laps at Oulton a few weeks ago and will make up for it the rest of the year

orry to hear this Taffy, but pleased no one was hurt. Porsche bumpers are expensive, but definitely replaceable, so hopefully no real harm done.
Thanks Digga..Its a new bumper only, if i'm extremely lucky however with my luck it'll be much more.

I had no problems keeping my RS on the black stuff............well until this afternoon when said black stuff got covered with white stuff and my RS failed to stop and ended up in the central reservation..The congested M4 hit sudden snow and everybody decided to do an emergency stop, unfortunately the Cups decided to carry out some ice skating and i had to choose between ramming into some stationary cars or turn towards the central reserve hoping the kerb would help stop me.It did a grand job however the front PU caught the crash barrier and crumpled like cardboard..
It scared the bejesus out of my wife while i was my typical cool self.biggrin Anyway it won't be coming to the Oulton park RS day so my ticket is up for sale..Anybody want it please PM and first come first served.
Really sorry to hear this Taffy - pleased that you are both ok smile

I previously passed on my RS place as I was supposed to be working in France. Due to the corona virus and travel restrictions for various colleagues the meetings have been cancelled and I can now make it. If anyone knows of a spare ticket, please let me know.

Hello Fella,
I`m really sorry to read this, but the main thing is that you and your wife are ok and cars can be fixed.

bit of a shame and always scary, was shocked you are driving it after the last chat on forums about CUP 2 and not being able to stop , if a car in front does in this weather.
where most say it's ok to drive these cars on cup in bad weather, it was me and you who said it's too risky.

very luck escape imo. hope the Mags are ok.

Very much a case of you reap what you sow..I was speaking to my OPC about fitting MP4Ss only a couple of hours previously.I was driving slowly due to the rain, unfortunately it quickly changed to slushy snow and everybody in front slammed their brakes on to virtually standstill..I was managing to keep the RS pointed in a straight line despite the snow but had zero braking..I chose to turn sideways hoping to gently hit into the central kerb rather than rear end another car.
The Mags are fine and the car still drives straight with no issues..Its a new bumper at the very least according to my OPC however there's possible damage underneath..
Drove my Ferrari a few months ago in similar condition which was on new MP4Ss and it was night and day compared to Cups in those conditions despite what anyone says.!
None of my cars are garage queens otherwise they'd be nice and safe at all times..

Sorry to hear this taff.
Dont beat your self up to badly,it may well still be the same case with mp4 on,if it was slushy snow.
As said if you want to repair yourself, instead of insurance, tony is your man,he trained the body techs at porsche reading. Also some of the opc body shops are truly shocking, learnt my lessons with them years ago!

If it makes you feel any better Taff; this is how my "class winning" run at Loton Park in may 2005 ended up:

Circuit:

I say class winning, because rain was on the cards and I was lucky enough to be starting ahead of my arch rival with his John Eales engined Griffith...

It was dry and I was having a decent run, right up to Cedar Straight, then I thought it began to rain. Unfortunately, what I could not tell, from inside the car at 80-90mph, was it was hailing, extremely hard. The brake point for Museum is an uphill section and if you miss that you're screwed. It was like braking on ball bearings....

I was nearly airborne at the point your car's at! Went straight on through all those cones and into the waiting tyre wall. Felt like about 30mph impact!

Sorry to hear your news Taffy. Sh*t happens. If it’s any consolation replacing the front “bumper” has happened to me a couple of times. Braked too late for a cattle grid on Exmoor, caught the splitter which broke the little channel in the bottom of the PU. New PU needed. Drove the F430 into my own garage wall at 0.5 mph. Wouldn’t have marked a Porsche PU but the F front is very fragile. Schoolboy error on both occasions. Self-insured both times which I think pays off in the long run.

yes it was bad enough for me to phone my other half and tell her to be safe on the way home.
the temps dropped from 5oc to 1 in 3 minutes and the rain turned to snow in seconds, my local roads were BAD.

my other half got home to tell me she saw crashed cars on the way home.

3 of my cars are not used atm all on CUPS, and my PS4S shod car was still slippy, but the KEY thing here is they stop quicker than other people tyres and that's the point of not using a car with CUPs . You can drive to the conditions but cannot stop as quick as other cars do even with a 4 second gap.

I hope you get it sorted ok :-) and no one was hurt so good news in a odd way.

My nephew and I arrived at Loton late (3 O' clockish) on Sunday afternoon for what was the last event of the season (IIRC) in 2018.
We decided to spectate at Museum, within 5 minutes of arriving we saw three fairly major spins at Museum and Fallow (and a gentle roll, with no injuries except to the protagonists pride) my nephew was delighted !!

Loton is a great venue, maybe not quite as revered or scenic as Prescott and Shelsley W, but it's an excellent hill.

You have to get all of your braking done on the uphill slope. The car is unweighted at the point where Yellow's car is. So it's a difficult braking point to 'get' and it's blind. Difficult to learn!

Sorry to hear that T, but 'tis just bits of easily replaceable plastic and metal, the main thing is you and your good lady are intact. Could have been far, far worse, think inattentive HGV driver behind you texting his missus ...

Cups have their place, but cold, near freezing sleet/slush snowy conditions aren't their forte !!
