Final Batch of 3RSs and Speedsters - Do They Have the PF?

I will check the prices later on the Oem parts for the 2RS. I don't know who's make it was but i have seen some CF vents on a 3RS-WP, and the CF on the wing vents and the rear intakes did not match the CF bonnet and roof, the weave was wider, and a lot lighter. Did not look right.
Thanks Apolo1!Much of the CF parts people buy are from China. DB is based in Germany, comes with an amazing warranty and is the highest quality.
I know people that bought items from them and are very happy. They had a one off intro group buy on Rennlist and everyone was very happy with the delivered product.
They have confirmed in writing to me that it is a matching weave. They even raised the point that the interior weave is different it the exterior weave and they match both.

I'm getting the Carbon parts for my RS..I asked my SA at my OPC yesterday for a price to supply all the Carbon for the Naca ducts, Fender grilles and side intakes..Total came to approx £4K but as he pointed out they're all solid Carbon unlike Techart which is just a veneer..I don't know what DB Carbon's are..
If DB's are just a veneer i'm tempted to get the OEM solid Carbon..
I asked my dealer first also. Here is the problem. They don’t make the NACA ducts, only the side intakes and fender vents. If DB's are just a veneer i'm tempted to get the OEM solid Carbon..

If I am wrong please let me know.
I would also suggest check Rennlist where many have ordered from them and are very happy.
If OEM is available for all the parts at £4k that’s good, but doesn’t seem right to me.

But....but....No Filter ??? ....'big players' said that it would have one the size of Saturn V ?
Please tell us how a genius such as yourself as come to such a conclusion..I see no mention of the GPF..!Edited by Robbo66 on Wednesday 17th April 07:59

Thanks for doing all the leg work on the Carbon bits..DB Carbon sounds great but needs to be significantly less than the Oem solid Carbon..I assume the Oem Carbon parts have the same weave pattern as the bonnet/roof..
If the OEM parts include the NACA ducts and are at that price, sign me up to.We all want the same thing so thanks for sharing.

Happy for you John. You must be over the moon!. My OPC hasn't even bothered to contact me...bit short sighted based on the number of cars I bought from them.
See you at Silverstone!
Thanks Nick Don't assume that just because they haven't phoned you yet doesn't necessarily mean you're not getting one..I should know as i went through the same waiting process..See you at Silverstone!
I've just read on Rennlist that the RS fitted with the GPF has lost 20PS down to the same 500PS as the standard GT3..If true it seems that Porsche were unable to overcome the negative effects of the filter..
With only 500PS its taken the shine off for me personally and if the 992TTS will have the rumoured 650PS i might swap my RS for one of those next year..This new GPF has really killed off the NA engine IMO..
To add insult to injury i've also heard that the 718GT4 has had the NA engine dropped for the production version, to be replaced by a 3L Turbo from the 992..
If that’s true about the 718GT4 then that just also be true for the Spyder.

Taff after all this s—t about getting one,you will get rid of it for a blower and because its 20bhp less, which you will not notice mate.
Do the honourable thing and give it up to some one who really wants one
Sorry Paul about all the s--t i i've spouted recently.I was under a great deal of pressure..Do the honourable thing and give it up to some one who really wants one
I'm only joking about chopping it in for a 992TTS...Off hand i can't think of anyone i know who really wants one more than me. I can solve the GPF in ten minutes with an oxy-acetylene which i'm more than happy to do for anyone else for one off special price..

Surely removing the GPF will blow the warranty clean out of the water. Plus won't the ECU need a re-flash to compensate for its removal?
Well the first part is easy, put it back on before making a warranty claim.ECU re-flash is my concern. Time will soon tell.
I do know that Dundon motorsport has an amazing combo of full exhaust and upgraded reverse dual cone airbox which increase filter area by 353%. More filter area means slower air speeds through the filters and less pressure drop across the
Thee full exhaust inc headers, not including the airbox:
445whp Peak
32whp at 8400rpm
29lbft, 24whp gains at 4478rpm
Assuming all is ok, I will be going for a Dundon system or JCR.

Hi Guys,
I have a Speedster coming around August and a 3RS WP coming in July. I wanted to ask if any of you know if the incoming 991 UK cars have the Particle Filter or of that is just the 992s?
I really appreciate the help as I want to buy a full exhaust system but it likely won’t be compatible on cars with the PF.
Thank you
Here are some renders of my incoming 3RS

I'm assuming your 3RS WP PTS is a UK car and congratulations on securing a PTS build. Have you been assigned a definite build date? I've been quoted 20th August non PTS.
Cheers
I can’t wait... so excited!

Black looking popular ....... which is nice ...... only thing I have found all the things like NACA ducts hamper keeping clean as after a wash , when you drive away water comes out of all these areas .
Anyway , nice sounding spec , and maybe a run in out there ??
Enjoy
That used to drive me crazy lol!Anyway , nice sounding spec , and maybe a run in out there ??
Enjoy
I now use an app to order someone over to wash my car. This way everything has dried before I drive somewhere.

Can you get the brake calipers in a different colour via CXX? I would get rid of yellow and go for silver with silver stitching if available on a black car
That's got me thinking What colour would you go on the Mag rims..?I'd definitely be more tempted to go CXX on the wheels. I know it's a .1 but a homage to the 997.2 RS works pretty well (got the mirrors and door handles wrong in my book)

I think “increasingly likely” is a bit of s logical leap at this point.
The ITB could be a point for Porsche to use to differentiate the Speedster, which is a brand new model and I’m sure the cost is not insignificant.
The exhaust on the RS is also titanium and not the same as the regular GT3 on which the Speedster is based which may or may not be a factor, I don’t know.
The Second batch of RS is exactly that, a second batch of existing cars that has some additional options. Under normal circumstances these would be indistinguishable from the first batch but the emissions testing has got in the way, making it a bit more complicated.
If they had added the ITB to the remaining run out of 991RS as an enhancement, it would be very unlike AP not to mention it! Will probably see it on the 992 at least.
My bet for the remaining RS: same engine, filter, less muffling, same power, pretty much the same noise.
There’s a post on Rennlist where a guy has a Swiss car coming and the spec mentions the filter.
Edited to add: the plot thickens. It looks like the Swiss car is specifically without a filter? I give up. Let’s wait and see, but I’m changing my bet to same set up in the last batch, no filter.

This was posted in the Speedster thread. About nine minutes onwards they talk about engine spec.
‘Configuration exclusive to the Speedster’. I think we can expect a modified exhaust and no other changes.
Some interesting things in this video
1) Exhaust valves are now electronic and not vacuum. I wonder if this could eliminate the 4K transition if one turns exhaust on.?
2) Heritage does seem to be only for GT Silver. Those old school badges are awesome. I assume 95% of all cars will look exactly the same.
3) It does seem clear the last batch of 3RSs won’t have this exhaust setup as pointed out above.
I must say the heritage looked good in the video. It kills me that virtually all the cars will be looking exactly the same.

It has to be the ITBs the Porsche insider is referring to as a substantially reworked engine. Porsche would only have developed one type of GT engine for the Speedster and RS..Include the fact that ITBs reduce emissions when the engine is cold when the GPF is ineffective then it seems even more likely..
Eradicating the two side mufflers will save at least as much weight as the GPFs add and seemed such an obvious solution i'm surprised none of us thought about it.
IF the second batch has these ITBs fitted coupled with the highly desirable WP, then anyone who's had an allocation will be very chuffed indeed.
This would be amazing. We will soon know. My build is July. Are there earlier ones?Eradicating the two side mufflers will save at least as much weight as the GPFs add and seemed such an obvious solution i'm surprised none of us thought about it.

I’m July as well, I think those are the earliest. Speedsters starts t the same time I believe
Ahhhh the Speedster... Just to confirm, have you been able to spec it with your dealer or is the configurator still to go live even with them? I remember for the 2RS I knew I had an allocation but waited a few weeks post announcement. Back to Speedster: Manual, open top, 9K. Can just picture the drive on a countryside B road... you must be so excited! Each GT i was lucky to have an allocation for was such an unbelievable joy - incl the 3RS WP!. Speedster is right up there! Tbh, and although not comparable cars and, as you now know, a dream of mine too. I think a Speedster + GT2 RS would fulfil me more than a Carrera GT. And as I write... it’s V10 sounds comes to my mind and ears!Interesting you would choose the 2RS and Speedster.
Hope your loving the 3RS

Yes let’s wait and see. Info is not consistent. Now I wonder if we will even know when we receive our cars? We will have, for those who had first and second batches, to compare our IPhone sound takes windows down under the few tunnels we go back and forth under when the break in period is over!Taffy66 said:

If it is producing the same power but less sound, just fit a side delete.
If i've read things correctly the side mufflers have been entirely replaced by the nasty GPFs..The only way to release more noise would be to replace the offending GPFs with side deletes..Possible ECU,Insurance and Warranty issues and breach of the new WLTP regs..The Speedster, which has the PF, has a single muffler which could be upgraded, as I understand it.
I believe the 3RS will have at least one upgradable component ... headers, side mufflers or center muffler.

None of those things may bother you IREvans, and that's great, but they sure as hell would bother me. As with a lot of things, the finer details really matter to some people. For example, given the choice I'd take a batch 1 car over a batch 2 version (even if it had the Weissach Pack).
Weissach Pack saves weight and wasn’t available in batch 1Mag wheels save weight and weren’t available in batch 1
Exhaust options will be available to lighten up and make her sing.
Lastly, taxes will be introduced on higher emissions cars as the years pass so this could be a blessing in the future.
Can’t wait for batch 2
