The GTS avoidance thread!
Discussion
There was a similar thread for GT3 and RS. Let's have one for GTS.
It is a private sale on Autotrader so hopefully, no dealer will complain and it doesn't get removed.
Bargain at 93k: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
Is anyone able to shed some light why is it HPI clear but not vcheck clear?

Nice work, that’s absolutely shocking, it’s a real shame some poor soul will buy that thinking they are getting a great deal without seeing what you have just posted. It is a private sale on Autotrader so hopefully, no dealer will complain and it doesn't get removed.

Sugar. I assume that will get an "insurance category" assigned to it though? That is a trap waiting for some unsuspecting buyer to drop into .....
Cat C?
Category A:
Scrap only. For cars so badly damaged they should be crushed and never re-appear on the road. Even salvageable parts must be destroyed.
Category B:
Body shell should be crushed. Signifies extensive damage, although some parts are salvageable.
Should never re-appear on road, although reclaimed parts can be used in other road-going vehicles.
Category S: (formerly Category C)
The new Category S means the vehicle has suffered structural damage.
This could include a bent or twisted chassis, or a crumple zone that has collapsed in a crash.
Category S damage is more than just cosmetic, therefore, and the vehicle will need to be professionally repaired. Also, it won’t be safe to drive until then.

Went to see this yesterday....lovely car...hpi check is clear....warranty extension to end of June by Porsche because of Virus....but there were some minor alarm bells.
Owner said no accidents or repairs !
Interestingly its the same pictures in the April'19 advert....change of owner Oct'19 to current (2previous)

Has 'sold' twice now on ebay for £65.5K in April and £65K a couple of days ago. No mention of any previous damage in the ad and being HPI clear hope no one buys RV17 NMZ if unaware of it's history.
Assuming it has been repaired properly, being HPI clear and with Porsche warranty, I am sure someone will be happy to take a punt on it if it is cheaper than a straight one.

Interesting - I think I may have seen this in the Reading area. Similar part of the world? I chatted to a Gen II Carmine GTS owner at the weekend. Didn't read the plate in detail, but may have been this car.Owner said no accidents or repairs !

I went to see it last week, nice car but there were alarm bells ringing from the start.
It 'sold' a few months back on ebay for £65500, bargain so why was it back up again. Seller said the high bidder had been furloughed.
Seller had various other items for sale that indicated he could be in the trade....a bonnet or a door I think for a merc and some private reg plates.
Previous completed listings also showed a 991.2 led headlight. Apparently replaced due to a scratch.
It was hard to pair the above items and the surroundings in which they had been photographed with a car of that value.
Another alarm bell.....all the docs, manuals, spare key and trackers were stuffed in the glove box in a carrier bag.
Another alarm bell....the car wasn't at his house, he had to go get it which was no problem, he was very nice and obliging. It was registered to the address where we met and he showed me ID.
Letter from Porsche was there extending the warranty due to covid. Expires this month sometime. It had also recently had front shocks replaced under warranty.
Clearly the photos of the car were not recent.
I did a HPI check and all clear. The guide was £60 to £65 trade in and same for private sale so although I thought it was cheap at £65, it was inline with the guides on HPI.
The auction ended and the high bidder didn't get in touch. I could have had it for £65k so I put the reg into google and found the same photos as posted above on a Renault forum.
The car looked great, seller was a decent guy, owned since October so he could have bought it and not known its history which would have been unfortunate. Or there could have been more to it.....not sure.
It's such a small world, and there are so few cars like that it cannot be confused with another one, whoever buys it will eventually find out or will bump into someone who knows about it. The current owner would be better to advertise it as repaired to a high standard using genuine parts etc rather than hide the truth. I would be interested at the right price.
Interesting that the first owner was 'Aston Martin Lagonda' would love to know what they were doing with it and if they smashed it up. I think it had 1700 miles on the clock when it was at the salvage auction.
