was it not the 9K limit which triggers these fails, hence the RS limit was dropped and why only tracked cars fail.

I guess sports plus also gives the full 9k and hence the repeated fails on tracked cars.

a better recall would have been to drop the rev limit on all 991.1 GT3 to RS spec.

I would not touch one with a barge pole myself.

Like a few on here I have had both 991 GT3's and loved the .1 when I had it.
Still drive a .2 as a daily and have to agree with those who feel the car is that little better in many areas. The engine and damping are the biggest, but the diff setup and RWS calibration also feel better to me.
I am sure the newer generation of tyres also help the car and the updated PCM, availability of manual transition and other improvements are also benefits.

The engine issue would be the biggest worry for me for long term ownership, but I am sure a specialist will come up with a fix or mod to resolve any issue when the factory no longer cover them.

Is it worth 45K more, for a 3 year newer car with a known major issue resolved, I think it probably is and the market agrees. Will the difference stay at that, I doubt it, but do feel it may well be bigger than the 997.1 and 997.2.

That is not to say a 991.1 GT3 is a bad car and still for 100K is hard to beat, whichever you choose you will have a great car.

steering feel also much better in the .2, they have just about nailed EPS now.

997.2 GT3 now more expensive than 991.1's, imo there will always be a big gap in price from the 991.1 GT3 to the 991.2, that's even without the manual options which will be key going forward 4 or 5 years.

with new cars having petrol filters and black box's we have hit a sweet point again in the 991.2 GT3 like the 997.2 cars were another past sweet point.

Porsche seem to make a lot of mistakes but when they get a model right it's very nice. now about those shock turrets in the new cars !!!

.2 is clearly a better car but I think with the engine warranty a .1 represents great value, especially for those of us that aren't comfortable with the overs on a .2

The main reason I found it hard to justify the current cost on a .2 was the value of a lightly used 720s coming into a similar pricepoint over the next year. We all know these cars depreciate differently but from a £ to performance perspective it becomes hard not to feel a generation behind.

Buy what feels right to you, Mac ownership is a very different prospect to Porsche ownership. It’s not just depreciation you need to worry about, all bills are higher. You can’t deny the speed of these cars, but I know very few owners who have a trouble free ownership experience.

I do agree it’s not a case of if but when the .1 engine suffers finger follower wear and throws a check engine light.
Some on Rennlist are on the 4th .1 engine with Porsche insiders apparently not confident that the .1 fixes really solve the issues.

I cannot recall regretting spending a little more to get something better, but have on occasion regretted not doing so.

You pays your money and takes your chances.

Well, the market has decided the gen 2 is 45k better! It's surely, however, up to the individual to decide if they can justify the premium.

Porsche almost always fix the issues of the gen 1 when introducing the new car. With the 996.2 we got a better gearbox, better brakes and a more manic top end. With the 991.2 the engine has been sorted. And for me that's worth a massive chunk of the premium. Much more so than for previous versions. Factor in the manual gearbox and its a no brainer.

Yes, the 992 is coming and presumably in ever greater numbers but as has been said on another thread we will see the killjoy regulations taking grip. So, it could be the 991.2 remains the pick of the bunch.

I am biased of course smile
Do you still have the manual 991.2? Seems like they're relatively rare
