Mine has completed build and awaiting a boat but I understand massive logistic issues at present so who knows when will arrive.

I notice on the production line photo that it appears to have Goodyear tyres, anyone any experience of them? I had Dunlop on my 991.2RS and didn't get on with them so changed them for Cup 2, much better.

Cheers.

Like you, I had Dunlop sport Maxx on my 991.2RS, and they were hopeless. As I’ve mentioned here before, they struggled for grip in the wet even when it was 20°C; As I’m sure you experienced, even moderate straight line braking would bring in an ABS intervention.

I’ve had my 992RS for a month, and it’s fitted with the Goodyear Supersport R, and I really like them. They are nothing like the previous Dunlops. Grip when wet and relatively cold is really progressive, you can really lean on them. They’re also excellent in the dry, and I’d go as far as to say they’re as good if not marginally better than a Michelin Cup. The eagle eyed will notice the recommended comfort pressures on 992RS are lower than 991.2RS at 28F/30R

In defence of the Dunlops they are the better tyres for track use when the temps are higher. I did a trackday at Oulton last July's hottest ever day in my 991RS WP on Cup 2s and they couldn't cope with the heat. In the US hotter states they much prefer the Dunlops for this reason.
Interesting to hear about the Goodyears of which I haven't had any experience but they sound to be the best of both worlds.

Taffy , Goodyear is Dunlop , and I liked my Dunlops ( did 4 track days on them ) Michelins are the go to but when a track days old the are not so good which essentially mimics the slicks form the companies . Slicks are now Hard to obtain unless in top line series . I liked the Dunlops in the wet ( Road ) .Just fitted new Cup 2's on the road car ..... which were good in the Somme ( Campsite E at Goodwood during the members meeting )got in and out with no tow in scary mud

Good morning,

thanks for the replies on the tyres, I'll hopefully get on better with the Goodyear's than I did with the Dunlop's.

Can I ask, where you guys getting the decals from, my OPC says they aren't available to order yet? I want to do the same as above.

Thanks.

I’ve bought a full set of decals from my OPC as templates and then using a local graphics shop to extend the ends to get the continuation onto front & rear sections.

Looking to shrink the RS graphic so that we can replicate the smaller wing tip badges.

Graham.

Whilst Goodyear does own the Dunlop brand, it has decided not to continue marketing it, and focus instead on the Goodyear brand; the tyres are indeed quite different.

The Goodyear Supersport R tyre is only recently homologated, and production only began in week 13 2022.

Having driven a 991.2 RS on Dunlops, and a 992 RS on the GY Supersport R, I can assure you they drive quite differently. The pattern may be the same, the tyre construction and compound is different. They also run at different pressures.

I’d hoped that my car had been fitted with the Pirelli P-Zero Corsa, as that too is a new tyre which only began production in early 2022, but I’m really happy with the Goodyears.

Just checked - mines on Goodyears; so looks like the first run of cars will all be on these.
