Thanks , unfortunately not - it’s not matching numbers (different gearbox apparently) and it has been re imported from Japan, making it very difficult to believe the 20,000 or so advertised miles (I’m not saying it isn’t that mileage, it’s just very hard to confirm this) . The pricing doesn’t reflect both things IMHO. As mentioned in my post, I know of all the cars currently advertised , I guess I’m looking for cars that aren’t currently for sale.

Thanks anywaysmile
What price should this be? Interested to know
I’m not sure really - it just needs a big enough gap from a matching numbers car - so a lot less , but, like everything, I guess it’s worth what anyones willing to pay for it - it’s certainly looks lovely smile

I seriously thought about an RS but ended up buying a modified LHD C2 for track days. It’s a huge amount of fun and I enjoy driving it more than any other Porsche I’ve owned.
Hope you find what you are looking for. Is it for investment or will you use it?
Cheers

Definitely not an investment - as you can see from lowndes post, that boat sailed about 1000 years ago. No it’s to drive, obviously it’s not going to be my daily driver , but I’ll make sure I use it enough smile

I like the GT3 very much, but on the road the 964 is more fun at sensible speeds.I love using the red 964 on track and that won’t change, so what I’m really saying is the GT3 is too good!!!
Probably makes no sense at all!
Cheers

964 one of the best drivers cars on the planet wink

Will hopefully have another one. The non matching nos RS wouldn't bother me TBH good excuse to go mad with the engine. £120k the right money for RL car. Still too much but the mkt is the mkt.

After 70k miles in a 64 RS ..... not sure. about being better on the road than a GT3 , is was often scary when pushing on ... bouncing crashing and even bottoming out .
Yes was like a big go kart .

Yes that’s what I’m saying, GT3 is better on the road and find myself driving far to quickly.964 is more rewarding and ultimately more fun to drive on road and track.
The GT3 in reality is a far better car!
Doesn’t really make sense I know.
All the best.

Another vote for Paul McLean, he knows where the cars are and the owners trust him for good reason.

Well i wouldn't say that re RS pricing. Something like that yellow car is a collector car. You drive it in a meaningful way it loses half its value over night. Thats why Kev, Steve Rance modding a 964 C2 the best way to go if its to actually drive. No brainer actually wink

not good to drive either, so they are now strange cars at 300 euro's.

I was close to buying a mint autofarm one for £38k back in 2006 or something, only took me a few yards to see they don't cope on bumpy roads one bit, so pretty stupid cars all told bar track work or places who do have smooth roads.

very few GT or RS cars work in the UK for road use. hence the hot rod's with bespoke sus etc as these cars just like older GT3 were peanuts back In the day. at £60k you could not shift 996RS 8 years back, so it's all a farse why people want them.

if people liked driving they would try a Cayman R at £40k !!! but A: it's not a 911 and B:it's not a 911 and C: it's not expensive enough. :-)

these cars are great in collections, but that's where they should stay.....

I agree just couldn’t justify using the sort of RS I’d like on track or road when you get the same experience or better actually for a fraction of the price. But if a new hot rod commission costs £300k I’ll take RS all day long thanks until my lotto nos come in.

Off topic compared to an R or any modern even brand new GT3 oldtimer a much more visceral/raw experience so not comparable surely?!

Sorry, I don’t often feel compelled to respond to these type of ramblings - but what utter tosh!

You could have qualified your post as ‘imo’ - rather than have it read as gospel.

As with any decent sports car it’s all about set-up.

Invest a little time, patience and a few £ and a 964RS (+ 996GT3RS for that matter) can be set-up really well to cope with driving duties on UK roads, as well as Euro-hoons / Trackdays or whatever. It really is not rocket science!

All imho of course.

RSVP - unfortunately I don’t know of any LHD low miles cars other than those already mentioned, but I would certainly endorse Paul Mac.
I would only add not getting hung-up on mileage - condition/originality far more important imo, and there will be many decent cars out there with higher miles.

Anyway good luck with your search - they can indeed be great cars to ‘drive’.

Every post people make are opinions , so to say imo after every thing is daft, yes you can throw money at all these cars, £20k £60k £100k even, but cars like RS models have to be oem to keep its value so no one does now days.

I fancy a older GT3 build but the build cam to £58k plus donor car.

Still that’s 1/2 the price of. 964 RS lw and would be twice the car to drive.

What is gospel is how bad these car handle B roads in the UK.
It is all a bit look at me imho ....over driving half the time.

Complete nonsense of a grandiose claim as usual and none of a,b or c applies. For what a Cayman R does well, a 986 does a fair bit better for less (considerably less even) than half of that £40k.
