You really don't want to look like some Spanish chav - arm hanging out of the window, paying no attention to what's going on around him, incapable of keeping in his own lane etc etc.

I would not get to fussed over a sports Exhaust option, or than for a resale point. I don't think I have switched mine on more than a handful of times in either coupe or Cab.
I got PSE on my 992S Coupe and saw no benefit at all and i much prefer the look of the quad pipe exhaust on the standard exhaust..I deleted it from my Gentian blue Cabrio and replaced it with RAS instead.

MW,

Your logic was about the same as mine.

I thought the non-S Carrera was enough for me.

The main difference was another £10k for the S.

I find £10k quite a beautiful thing in its own right. I dont think square exhaust tips are any more or less desirable round ones.

As for the performance difference, I am pretty sure it is more academic than anything else.

The basic spec is pretty lush, so I didn't bother with most of the options.

I have had cars loaded with gadgets. After the novelty wears off (6 months) I tend to use about 5% of them! Tesla included.

I ordered this one on the 17th October. Apparently it will be built by the 22nd of this month! How exciting.

It is as about as "pov spec" as you can imagine apart from the colour (adventurine £850 ish), Sport tec seats (£few hundred) a "911" badge (free) and my "retro" door sticker (reminds me of the 80's!). I think the sticker was £140. That took alot of thinking about.

The colour reminds me of the 60's, of which I am a big fan. Oh and the 992 dash, although modern, reminds me of my old 911 from the 70's, which I really liked.

The overall look of the 992 reminds me of my old 930, with those wide arches- which I loved. I still do.Of course this has 2 turbos- excellent.

I think 380bhp will be more than enough for following lorries around at 45mph on single lane roads. I should be able to squeeze past.

As for the chrono-package-really? Dropping the car into gear at 5,000 rpm will never be great for the longevity of anything in my humble opinion. I dont want to do it, not only for that reason-but also for the embarrassment.

I went for the contrasting stitching. I am a crazy man. That was free I think.

20 and 21 inch wheels would last around 10 minutes around here. 19 and 20s are big enough. I value that bit of air in the sidewall.

Having completed 120,000 miles in a Tesla Model S, most of the "tech" options looked a bit weedy in comparison from Porsche. I bought the Porsche for its chassis and driving fun.

I think it was about £85k all in, which I consider good value.

Hello Adam,

So did I until I realised that if you selected the Sport-Tex box, crayon stitching is free.

is PSE really not that relevant in this day an age ? On the 991.1 it made a world of difference..

About to lock a spec as we speak and had specced it and omitted RWS..

It's a matter of personal choice. The guy in the Romans video says its a must have. Personally my non PSE 992 when being driven reasonably in Sport mode sounds IMO really nice. I wouldn't want it any louder/more intrusive. But I can well accept that there are those who prefer a bit more noise. As for performance as I understand it, it doesn't make any difference.

I think the guy from Romans is completely wrong about the Sports Exhaust.

I think 4 pipes look cooler than 2. It wasn't that long ago everyone was changing 2 pipes to 4 pipes because they thought it looked better, now I am being told the opposite is true.

4 pipes are the no cost option. I am sure the £1,800 extra cost of the Sports Exhaust represents £1,800 of extra profit to Mr Porsche.

Why would you want it to be loud?

It makes enough power as it is.

We had an F type Jag with the loud button. It was just silly. Everyone new knew when you had pressed it, and they knew you had pressed it just to show off. It was too loud in the sports setting, poping and farting like a 60's 2 stroke tractor.

Just my miserly take on the options list.

Another Sportex person! The best £324 option spent on mine, the seats are fab and extremely comfortable - they look so good in Sportex with the crayon stitch too.

I did take sport chrono on my C2S, but wouldn't bother next time, should have spent it on adaptive cruise especially if being used as a daily / long motorway runs.

Nice spec, enjoy smile

If ever a post showed how broad the reasons a person now buys a 911 it’s this one. Sport chrono vs adaptive cruise...fwiw I’d take SC and PSE on a 911 every time. For me they’re good additions to a sports car primarily. Sport chrono I often think is misunderstood in terms of buyers think it’s a stopwatch on the dashboard, truth is it’s an option with multiple add ons especially the dynamic mounts and I find the steering wheel mounted dial with 4 settings plus the sports response to be massively easy to use, eg your in slow moving single lane traffic, an opportunity opens to get past one or more cars , sport response pressed and it allows the car to perform right away, no screen fumbling etc here is a full explanation of SC . So capable is the 911 day to day it’s easy to forget first and foremost your buying a sports car , do PSE gets ticked and every time. As for adaptive cruise on a 911, I like it as an option but not on a 911.

I have PSE as well (I'd never go with out it - and BOSE for that matter), the most I use Sport Chrono for is to flick it into sport before I fire it up in the morning...... Otherwise, I just configure my spare button on the dash to take go to vehicle settings and select sport / sport plus. Maybe I've calmed down now I'm in my 40's, safer if I have to think for the extra 0.5 secs before pressing the button! Just not good enough a driver to notice the difference with the adaptive engine mounts. As a sports car, its more than I could ever ever want.

Great info on this thread , been reading up all day as have the same Option issues as seemingly everyone else .... Just about to order my First 911 and then suddenly lots of Ex Demo cars come up on Porsche web sites .. I guess not all Ex demo as some with only 50 miles on clock at 5k under list .. From those of u with Porsche experience is this normal or just seasonal ? Very tempted to wait around till Christmas and see if the deals get any better or more accurately the Spec’s of some of the cars available get any nearer to what I was going to order ?? Base 992 in Agate with about 4K of extras at £79,900 . Seems pretty good to me ?
Thanks

There are some fantastic deals about. Better than I’ve seen before.

That base model Agate car is a steal at £5k less than list (ish). There might be a little more room too. Might not be a perfect spec but it’s £30k less than an ideal C2S spec which is hard to argue with.
