Anyone know if it’s legal to drive bare foot?

Not technically illegal, I've done it. Safer than driving in flip flops (or, in my case, a shoe that had suffered a catastrophic sole failure)

To the best of my knowledge it isn’t illegal. I gues the question is whether you can press the brake pedal with enough force in an emergency.

How would you be able to press it with less force NOT wearing shoes as opposed to wearing shoes, surely it's all in the leg and feet muscles?

You might have snowflake feet and pull back if it gave you an ouchy feeling, because that would be more important than not dying!

OP: REALLY?

I don’t drive barefoot, I keep my socks on, I haven’t driven with shoes on in years.

As long as you remain in control of the vehicle, of course it's legal.

Well then I would sue the car maker for making the car without soft peddles.

No ideas for a name

Highway code states you must not wear inappropriate footwear.

I passed my driving test in my socks.

I frequently drive barefoot. I managed to drive from Northampton to Exeter like it yesterday and only died twice.

Emergency stops are no problem at all without shoes in a heavily servoed road car.

Sunday morning hoons or a long trip and my shoes are off before I start the car.

I manage to put them back on before I get out thought.

I once drove 150 miles without shoes, socks or trousers.

I had been at a football match at Notts County and it pissed down the whole game. I had a folding waterproof jacket with a hood that kept my top half dry, but the water just ran down onto my lower half. I got some funny looks from passing lorry drivers and coach passengers on the M1.

Most cars have EBA nowadays, so as long as sensitive feet types can at least have a good go at pressing the pedal harder than normal, then it shouldn't matter if they don't quite stamp with the authority of a jackbooted company director.
