Digga i think we may need to ban the welsh from oulton next week, outbreak in swansea area
You only live 80 miles from Swansea compared to 60 miles for me,20 miles is nothing for a virus.Just heard the UK Goverment intends shutting all hotels for at least a year to stop the spread..Sounds like a good idea to me.What do you think.?Well my first two years of school were in Cardiff, and Welsh was the first second language I learned, so despite being very English, I am forever part Cymreag.
But in summary, yes a ban seems a good idea.
What do i think,i thnks u iz getting a little prickly
On a seriouse note look forward to seeing you all at the fishpool inn,and i hope the weather gives us a break for at least a day.
Have ppf going on today taff,i decided to give that spray on coating a miss.

Where have you got that info from, hotels last year had there worst year ever.big chains on there knees, slashed prices, air B&B etc.Tourist associations confirm numbers down big time, now no chinese or japanese and if they control travel if a outbreak will kill off some large hotels in the uk,especially london.
We own 4 mid range 'boutique' hotels in the the UK and as per my previous post bookings soared last week mainly from people deciding to stay in the UK and those switching/cancelling foreign holidays.Big chains as expected are suffering and air b+bs variable but we along with many similar have had a record 3 years largely due to the sinking £ and great British summers.

Sadly not- everyone will be rushing to stay in Swiss Toni’s boutique hotels.
Fair play to Swiss Toni, from his past posting history he’s mentioned he’s been a surveyor who’s owned car dealerships, trades high end cars and now owns a chain of boutique hotels! He may be right mind, I’m a little worried about booking our family holiday this year.

Every where is , places near me are 75% down as no foreign visitors.
I guess smaller places in the summer will have no issue due to Uk people, but that does not carry them through 12 months.
Be steel Rolex's in windows soon with no foreign visitors lol
I guess anything famous or mainstream must have booking way way down.
Place like Bicester Village are in big trouble.

I don't believe or accept the official UK growth figures..The whole UK economic growth is hinged on personal consumer debt which is at an all time high.
Its so easy to blame our struggling economy on Brexit, floods or Coronavirus!, however this economic downturn is way overdue. It'll get much worse before it gets better IMO.

Growth is up as are wages, but there are no bus loads of Chinese people at bister village or harrods or lake Windermere. Its so easy to blame our struggling economy on Brexit, floods or Coronavirus!, however this economic downturn is way overdue. It'll get much worse before it gets better IMO.
Nothing to do with UK growth. All these big country houses are 75% tourists as are all Uk main stream attractions and places they are not booking trips here !!!

Having ordered a large pressure washer and two large dehumidifiers, from two companies, total w———s,we needed urgently for the flood damage.yet i can order piston rings from California and arrive in two days as a correct order, this country has gone to the dogs, and of course the divide in who has and has not is still growing.

I agree with you on the state of the country..The UK's economy is all smoke and mirrors trying to con the gullible public that all is well..Farming is in its worst state in living memory with rising costs and beef at 30 year lows..Its all contributing to the current rise in mental health issues in farmers..Luckily i don't suffer as i no longer give a sht.Having ordered a large pressure washer and two large dehumidifiers, from two companies, total w———s,we needed urgently for the flood damage.yet i can order piston rings from California and arrive in two days as a correct order, this country has gone to the dogs, and of course the divide in who has and has not is still growing.
I know you're on the banks of the Wye and always assumed you were high enough to avoid these floods..Sorry to hear that's not the case and wish you a speedy clean up operation.
I have a mate to owns UK's largest ATV retailer who's premises are on the river Aeron in West Wales..He's had twp major floods in less than six months and his excess is now over a £100k and his insurance costs have gone through the roof...Not good times to be running a business in the UK.

I disagree corporation tax is low The UK
Most business I visit are growing if not all.
Thanks for adding balance to the debate..I suppose it depends on what sector you're in !.Hopefully things will improve after we leave the UK and start making lucrative trade deals with the ROW.Most business I visit are growing if not all.
Car sales and car manufacturing are the lowest its been in years in the UK..
For manufacturing to ‘work’ and to unlock the vexed UK productivity gap, businesses of all sizes need to see a stable government, with a long term plan. Without that, they will not risk more capital.
No productivity growth happens unless money is spent by firms on education, training and equipment. The last bit often represents significant outlay.
Our latest CNC robot machine was about £0.3m all-in and, frankly, is very small beer compared to investments required by many to move their firms forward.
The analogy I always think of is a man mowing; how much can he do with a push-along, then with a powered mower, or then with a tractor? The productivity growth is primarily driven by investment plus a bit of training.
