Glad to see you’ve seen through the skin deep charms of the Speciale, R smile

No excuse now - your next post will of course be to introduce us all to your new CGT!

Sounds interesting - if you could sell 2 to buy one, what would you get and what did you want to buy that went in a day.

964 RS survived the cull and I hope the financial gods will smile favourably on me so it gets to stay with me - it was incredibly hard to find and is such a special car.

Re gen1 Spyder - I bet you are right & would like to see what all the fuss is about one day - I imagine a good mix of power (not too much) , size (not too big) and weight (not too flabby) makes for a great road car. smile
an OPC had a Aero kitted 997.2 GTS in white , but soon gone.

I am going off very expensive stuff atm I would maybe sell every thing if I got retail but keeping the Manual GT3 for the time being.

I drive the 987.2 and think "I don't need any more performance or any thing newer" I would go back to a Cayman R, but thought I would have a 997 GTS.

Yep a golf club carpark vehicle to match the raspberry chinos and strictly for the over 70s.

I’d disagree with that.

Perhaps in the distant past, but contemporary Astons have a much more positive public perception - regularly featuring as one if the ‘coolest brands on the planet’.

Even as a Porsche enthusiast, I would regard Aston Martin as having a better brand image than Porsche, Ferrari or Lamborghini.

Their cars might have a different appeal to, say, a GT3, but certain models exude great taste and capability.

Recent financial woes haven’t been ideal, but the brand is always elevated when the next Bond movie hits the screens.

I know K my comments were tongue in cheek.

There are a few Astons near me and they always sound fantastic.

Someone has bought a cheap car there that if nothing else could be thrown around a circuit with less need to worry about it than people who paid £50k more for one. If you think what the parts would be worth that car is ridiculously cheap....engine on it’s own must be worth £20k, PCCB’s and Seats another easy £10k etc etc

Exactly! Not really cheap given provenance, KM odometer, Non OPC service and lack of warranty................

And ‘cannot be supplied with an EU c of c’, so can’t be registered in the EU.

Hardly cheap based on this.

When I looked the duty would have been £50 because the car was manufactured in the EU. Vat at 20% and shipping to the UK approx £1000. Seems good value to me.

Why wouldn't it be able to get a certificate of conformity? Alternative would be an IVA which would be simple enough.....

Rare manual low miles 14k 997 GTS listed and coming up at Silverstone Auctions.

Reserve doesn't look too ott.

Looks like its been mothballed for a few years.

Part of a 20 odd Porsche collection with quite a few other interesting cars.

I'm happy to be corrected, but isn't the age of the car an issue for vat at 20% ?

I could have asked a professional shipping agent for the figures but I'mm too happy with my modified 981 GT4 ...

yep already noted, but I don't like auctions or mothballed cars, I guess it depends on price but you have to keep your head with 12.5% + VAT fee's !!!

can you go and RR check a car as an example ?

I would not even bid to the lowest est for that car so I doubt i'll have a go for it.

Have to say the estimate’s look realistic to me...but once you add their commission and say allow £5k bill from your friendly Porsche specialist for sorting out problems because cars haven’t been used you’d need to buy at low estimate.

an Auction car sold as seen is not a £63k car !! which is what a £55k bid would cost you !

The mint OPC car was £65k asking with a LSD option (I am sure that was still an option ! ) , low miles, full aero kit and 2 year warranty on new tyres.

I would go £52k top wack if RR free and looked ok in person on the auction car.

be interesting to see what happens.
