1989 964C2 rebuilt by Tech9 as an 964RS sleeper. 300bhp, PSS10’s, RS ride height and geo, cargraphic cats, RS flywheel & clutch, original colour is Dunkelblau( non metallic blue) with Oxblood interior! On D90’s and flag mirrors for the full sleeper effect.
such a cool car....GT3 touring makes a great stablemate for a hot 964 -- my other Porsche is a maritime blue 964 RS -- do it !

Did you put any film on it Nick ?
Geoff, I’ve mixed views about film. A stone ripped a tear through Xpel ultimate when on our Scottish trip. OK it saved the paint underneath but still needed a new piece of film for the bonnet which cost around the same as a respray. Scuffs or pits in the film can look white so not ideal on a black car. The car arrived taxed and on the road, just as lockdown hit meaning that places that do film were generally shut. Though in very nice condition, it was nevertheless 2 years old and with 6k km with paint excellent but not perfect. When discussing film with Reading on another used car they advised against as the film tends to exacerbate any defects by sinking into pits and scratches. I’ve now added another 3.5k miles so it maybe too late and in any event plain non-metallic Black is easy to touch up and or respray. So on balance film is perhaps cost neutral and not quite in the deviated stitching category but nevertheless it does carry a faint a whiff of admiring the car in the garage and checking values in classifieds rather than actually risk driving.

Love it When I had my 997 GT3 I was quite worried about stone chips to start with, then one day I got a huge chip in the front bumper that I knew would require a respray. After that, I wasn't worried anymore and it was such a liberating feeling.

Have to say I agree. PPF winds me up because it can’t be polished and waxed to the same degree as paint (despite what the vendors say), and you are left with visible patches when impacts occur. Definitely an argument for sticking to paint and respray when needed. I have Xpel Ultimate and it's shinier than any paint I've seen - zero swirls and self healing so I'm not sure what film you've seen.RT said:

Rubbish.I have xpel also and it don't stop high speed stone hits and it also looks gash for dead flies.
my front bumpers also got chips and etching marks from flies.
None of this is self healing, it's all marketing crap.
I bought it to protect my GT3 sills and bumper and it's not doing a very good job.
stops road rash that's about it, all very over rated stuff.
