Anyone fitted the Dansk 996 GT3 silencers? My OEM ones have now split and rusted down the seam, so whilst I extract them/repack and repair I'm tempted to fit these Dansk items for the upcoming RS trackday:

Thoughts?

For a GT3? Mmmm.... would rather fit new. But Porsche branded OEM £1500 a side!

This are the company Manthey use.

I had a set on my old GT3, and also have a full system on my current GT3.

^ These or Cargraphic. Both are excellent.

Thanks. Any ideas on price or UK suppliers, or do I email them direct?

Dan, Slippy,

Would they be too loud for UK track days? I seem to recall that they (M&M) might be too loud when I was doing research?

Cargraphic are imported and (I think) sold by Parr. UK distributors here :

https://www.cargraphicts.com/en/dealer-network/uni...

Overview of available Cargraphic Mk2 996 exhaust products here (they're actually manufactured in the UK by Phoenix Exhausts BTW ) :

https://www.cargraphicts.com/en/brands/for-porsche...

M & M don't have a UK importer/distributor, you'll have to deal direct, speak to Kaija (was the contact I think) and pay in advance (though I think they'll contact you for payment a day or two before production of your components is scheduled)
Those that have dealt with them before have said the period between placing the order and being contacted to say payment is required/production is due to start, can be 4-6 weeks. My guess is the Cargraphic items will be available off the shelf.

Cargraphic. depending on the silencer choice, should be fine, M & M should and I stress should, be ok, as the standard cats are being retained. But definitely worth asking M & M before committing to them.

I have a Cargraphic non-valved sports exhaust, it made quite a pleasant noise but was by no means shouty, then I fitted 200 cell cats and my god did that make a difference. Much louder, and it howled at higher revs.

Therefore I'd take people's anecdotal opinion of loudness with a pinch of salt, as you'd need someone with the whole system to comment. That said, if you are just changing the section with the silencers in you will likely find someone with that setup fairly easily.

Hi Neil, in my experience the X pipe tends to make things more strident (and as you've said) howl, higher up the rev range.
Just replacing the silencers with Cargraphic's "TUV" sound items should make for a trackday friendly arrangement, a mate had them on his Mk2 996 GT3, and whilst they made a fruitier sound under acceleration, they were by no means intrusive either in the cabin or outside the car. However, it's definitely worth having a discussion with Parr (or whoever the OP intends buying them off) before proceeding with their purchase

The Dansk silencers are known to fracture on the flexi pipe section & supposedly they don’t honour the guarantee (check out 911uk for more info). You could always try the Carnewal mod which would deal with the rusted seams at the same time I think.

Very useful and relevant thread as my silencers would need replacing soon.
I had a discussion with Parr to quote on the Cargraphic silencer & labour cost, and was informed the TUV version was on back order. I am in no rush to fit mine, but if you are, you are looking at 6 weeks lead time for the TUV version.

Alfapork, are you still looking for some silencers? I'm selling my old ones, they are "rusty" but not split. Drop me a DM if interested.

Thanks for all the advice everyone.

The search for what is literally some expensive pipes and boxes has led me to the conclusion that I’m going to CAD up and make a set of my own custom silencers for the car. We may even do a short run for anyone else interested.

The aftermarket costs and P tax for exhausts is ridiculous. We have a tig welder, access to the raw materials and a workshop so makes sense!

Hi! Did you get around to make your own exhaust? I also find the prices quite horrendous for a full stainless kit.

I had this problem and I am pretty sure that the Dansk ones are made in the same factory as the super sprint ones. I ordered the super sprint a few years ago via design 911 for my 996.2 GT3 which were very good but I am sure in the order process I concluded that the Dansk ones were from the same place. Probably the same jigs but without the logo's etc.

Ive got a spare set of OEM used cats for the 996.2 GT3 if anyone is interested.
