And then there is the GT4 (a much more practical car than any GT3 as a daily) ...
This! Not only more practical but has performance far better suited to road use when compared to the three.
not to go on and on but you are sadly incorrect for 9 simple reasons which prove other wise and I will have to point these out as you clearly have not owned both.

1: the performance cannot be enjoyed due to 85 mph in 2nd and then not enough power to get you though 3rd on normal B roads, if you drove one hard you would understand that, seeing high revs in 3rd is pretty impossible, this is the case for most GT cars.
2: Less space than the GT3 for luggage. As a GT3 with folding seats you have a ton of room vs the small rear GT4 boot.
3: No lift on the GT4, so really no multi story car park use.
4: low MPG on the GT4
5: Very long warm up times on the GT4.
6: No Apple car play and outstated nav system.
7: In the main 918 seats which are not heated vs heated folding buckets you you speced them :-) also aids that luggage access issue.
8: less torque than the GT3
9: the GT3 has a reverse camera :-) (I forget if the GT4 had one but cannot remember it, the 718 does though)

all these things make a GT4 less practical and only option 7 was a choice? Nothing on the GT3 makes it less Practical ? but every thing listed makes a GT3 a LOT more practical.

you could dyno mat the rear and doors and fit PS4S tyres and have a car you could daily and enjoy, If I had a touring these 2 things would be top on any mod list over any thing, although as a daily you cannot really beat a engine with a turbo as at 50 it's nice to have Torques. And then you have a car at the weekends which is a lot different to drive for fun so will enjoy a lot more and will feel a lot more special. Hi reving engines in traffic is a bit pointless.
1. I can assure you, I have extracted all of the in gear performance of a GT4 on the road. You don’t have to rev it out and if you do there are plenty of opportunities to do so. Whereas if you rev out the GT3 you are travelling at an even more anti social pace.
2. What, the GT4 has two boots! Both of which are a good size and make touring etc a breeze without having to load the rear cabin of the GT3, which is full of scaffolding. I have even put a road bike in the rear of the GT4.
And for anybody with the impractical 918 buckets this is even more tiresome in the GT3.
3. True no lift, but hasn’t stopped me doing 16k miles in the GT4 in a variety of circumstances, inc. on / off ferries, car parks, speed bumps etc etc. Yes it scraps sometimes but so what, so does my 991.2 GTS.
4. Sure it is less good than the GT3, but you seem to be the only person who gives a stuff about the cost of ownership around here.
5. And, so what?
6. And, so what?
7. Wrong, I did not and would not spec any bucket seat. 18 way seats are the best for road and practicality. FACT!
8. See no. 1. Plenty of torque and power for the road.
9. I can reverse perfectly well enough without a camera or sensors, been doing for over 30 years! But I appreciate you may find this difficult and therefore your swap from GT4 to GT3 makes sense.

I’d also add that you have missed the fundamental point and difference of the two cars - the chassis! This is where the GT4 comes into its own and makes for a stunning road car. It’s exploitable and predictable, a bit like somebody around here...

GT4 for the road, GT3 for the track. Had you bothered to track your GT3 you’d understand. Until then, I’d suggest you are in the wrong car for your road driving preference.

I expect there is. Back in the day I had a 996RS, faced with he same problem I secured the services of a small child to climb in and sort.

It’s a good point though, what a PITA.

Mr R makes me laugh. Criticises everyone else’s car, but don’t you dare say anything about the cars he currently owns smile

Pistonheads is getting more and more like a Pantomime and every good Panto needs a villain to make it worth watching.

Feel free, I would enjoy the debate, just back up anything you say and don't make it personal if you cannot back it up.
There are 10 or so people here who cannot backup anything and turn to personal attacks to save face, that’s forums today sadly.
Most now get ignored, but sheep will be sheep.
I post reviews of all my cars good and bad while I own them !

It’s not my posts which tend to get removed :-) but I do have feelings. As it's gone very CH themed, listen to his lastest pod casts. “They are only cars, there is more to life” he gets loads of abuse sadly, it's very evil. It’s very rare for me to do a personal comment about some ones car, I note I said yours looks great.
Enjoy...

There’s no question the GT3 Touring was a lovely car.
Slightly wasted on me though.
I prefer a 911 that rewards at sensible speeds (still have my ‘89 3.2). And, on U.K. roads I could feel the Touring’s sporting compromises.
Also, at the time, with a value of £200k, I was less comfortable using it the way I had planned.

Mind you, my kids (son, 23 and daughter 21, who is a pro-race driver), loved it though - especially wringing the engine to 9k rpm, but even they agreed that they’d lose their licences if they used it regularly.

My solution could be a 991’T’ - drove one back-to-back with the Touring and a lot to like - more accessible, nicely delivered, performance, bit more comfort, clean narrow-bodied lines, slightly old-skool character, and half the price.
Good to know. I'm nearer your demographic than your kids. I wish your daughter could race 911R he's also a pro driver (on mario kart) hehe

This is a great example, your responses are not profound prophecies like you think they are. They're just clichéd nonsense almost always spouted by those wishing to mask their inadequacies.
Most people on here have probably had the unfortunate circumstance of being stuck in a paddock with one (unlikely to be you as you rarely use your cars as intended) or a dinner table.
To add to the delusion, i think (hope) you're also unaware how insulting you are.

For example, your silly comment about the noble and double wishbone technology. Quick to vomit that nonsense without quite understanding the need for an altered front tub or strut tower or both.

There are some very knowledgeable, seemingly pleasant people on here. You're not one of them and you actually make the forum a little unpleasant. Like the smelly touchy uncle at Christmas.

It happens a lot as he reports them to the mods, yet complaints against his posts don't seem to get the same immediate response.

I suspect he's still a tad upset about being referred to by Chris Harris on that recent podcast.

I see, I remember a kid at school like that. He was a bit of a bully, but when somebody stood up to him he ran off crying to the headmaster.
