We are in for a very rough ride in terms of a recovery which will take a minimum of 10 years..
Don't think it will take that long Taffy.

A good comparison is during 1931 1932 the UK economy took a huge hit shrinking by six percent which by coincidence is what most 'experts' predict the GDP will retract by this year.

By 1933 it was growing again and for the next four years it grew by an average of five percent a year and for many life returned to normal very quickly.

Yep things are different this time with the virus but there were also huge headwinds preventing economic growth in the 1930s too.

I get the doom and gloom. But not sure that’s how we will hurt... PH is becoming a bit of therapeutic release for many by the sounds of it.

I think this is good for us to remember we’re members of communities in one shape and size or another. Maybe we will care less about the fashions that drive demand and get back to a purer motivation. Wanting a GT3 because we will drive them. Meet up in them. Make friends in them. Experience more. Maybe one is enough. Not collections.

I hope it creates positive long term change. I think this is the last of the ICE. Maybe Porsche sense this and the fact the standard 992 is GT quality already is a sign we’re at the end of this journey.

Electric will spur new innovations. We’re actually waiting for energy density developments vs cost of manufacture now. It’s getting very Star Trek and I don’t see anything but an even bigger future for automotive companies.

In short, Porsche will try every way to sell as many cars as they can. GT or otherwise - but price won’t be answer IMO. So if you fancy a 992 GT3 - get your interest registered and I think you’ll get one.

Going back to a pure car question.... how do people think they will divvy up the allocation of Touring V big wing and on the previous touring could you go full Club Sport inside if you wanted (cage and buckets) despite the understated exterior?

Nope, I reckon CS for winged only but PDK will be available for the Touring.

Interesting to read that quite a few people think there will be some kind of social reset after all this.
I'm a frontline medic and though the sentiments are laudable I doubt very much they will remain once life starts to get back to normal or that they will translate into anything meaningful.

There are too many people who have no other motivation in life other than to make as much money as possible and to show it off, most will not suddenly be reformed characters.

Then there are all the narcissists. I still see them now. Running along the road and clipping your shoulder whilst they pant their potentially C19 charged breath all over you. As they are usually the fit types I assume they think they are immune and couldn't give a damn if they pass it on to somebody older/with underlying conditions.

Apologies for a non car related type post.

I maintain...There will be the mother of all recessions, possibly leading to depression following this with massive unemployment and business liquidation. All asset classes will be hit, none more so than over leveraged automotive trinkets.

Regardless if lockdown is lifted, lack of confidence in the market will absolutely muller values across every brand, at a level we’ve not experienced since the 80’s.
If that were true the markets would be at 3800 not 5600.

The whole idea to keep the world going was investment, which it's had trillions and trillons of $$ worth . Most business are itching to get back to work.
Most business who liquidate will set up again under a new name.
I think the markets have got it massively wrong .
They are assuming a pause button has been pressed, and everything will go back to where it was once the start button is pressed again.
I am in daily contact with at least a dozen friends, who run businesses.
Out of all of them, only one is doing well by diversifying into ppe.
Every one else is on the floor.
One of them has just furloughed 1200 people, and the moment furloughing is over will probably make 700-800 redundant.
I think that if your a strong company, you will come out of this weak, and if your
weak your Fxxked.
And as for liquidating and starting again, good luck with that in the world of credit scores and banks playing totally safe.
From what I hear ,even viable companies with good track records are having problems borrowing money at the moment.

This wouldn’t shock me, I’ve personally always felt this car was way overpriced from the start even though it’s beautiful!

Nor me, I don’t think it would be that popular, would not pay £150k for one . Ltd appeal car imo. Not sure what it really offers a UK climate/buyer.

I think that would have been the case if Boris never got an 80 seat majority.
IMO Boris is a remainer, and now that he doesn’t really need the far right as much as he needed
with a slim majority,he will take us out in name only.

I think the wp rs sounds better than my 997rs when its singing.
That's great to hear Paul..Mine is on SORN now but when i get it back i might investigate taking the huge rear wing off to be a lot less flashy..You can buy parts to substitute where the wing uprights fit into the rear boot lid. Imagine a stealth Black RS WP sans rear wing..The thinking man's Touring RS methinks..idea
I think they look fine with out the rear wing, but to be fair i dont think with or with will make to much differance.
Just brightened up my interior
