I was told by an RSWP owner not to go for an RS for the road as it would tramline with the rear 325 tyres at speed, any truth in that as I really wanted one ?, am talking triple digits.

Not my experience and I have been over all kinds of roads (991.1RS) including autobahns as well as track stuff. Much more compliant not he road than a 997RS, but just one man's experience.

I found the 991.2RS a very road friendly car. Compliant for an RS and very user friendly. Ultimately though I felt like the unwanted participant in a menage a trois as ultimately the chassis and it’s control systems didn’t really need much of my input.

Thanks

Guess that is my loss then, should of gone to UK to drive one for myself .Will see if I secure my 992 GT3, if not will be a .2RS.Better news for myself with the control systems in it ,as we dont have tracks here to turn them off.

Thanks, our roads are pretty crap here, but find the .2GT3 perfect.

what a "right road" ?

If it not a motorway car and not a B road blaster , what it good at ? driving on the A43 ?

it's either good or it's not and imo it's not.
I’ve just come back from a drive in my RS over some country roads and what surprises me most is the ride quality. I suspect the people claiming it was too hard were using it as an excuse to flip it.It rides better than the GT3 I had which i wasn’t expecting.
Same here, very compliant not an issue in any way

I bet BrnttRubber has already specced his 992 GT3,992GT3 Touring, 992GT2RS 992.1GT3RS.1 992.2GT3RS and 992Spyder, all in PTS and probably already knows the new owners, got to get ahead of the game if you are smart

Ignore the rear aero and look at the fugly rear lights detail. So American!

Front looks good though.

Glad you're enjoying the RS..Its a really special car although i haven't been able to enjoy it this year as much as i'd have liked with Covid..Surprisingly a big step up on the GT3 and the latest engine is even sharper probably down to the ITBs..
The flippers are all mouth and no trousers and never gave the RS a chance in terms of driving enjoyment..Hopefully next year will be better so i can do some regular track days..Its a really dirty business on allocating these cars and not doing Porsche's image any good at all.

Its very heavily disguised and i bet the production 992RS will look like a very OTT road legal Cup car racer..

RS is about laptimes and track use, so there will be as it's faster.

GT3 non RS is the better road car.

you buy the right car for the intended use.

the 991.2 RS already looks over the top as a road car and is hard sprung.

most already say the 991.1 RS is the better road car than the .2 RS and that's not a good road car anyway !!!
this 100%

the RS is a track car, if the wing helps better lap times then it should be there

This is one serious rear wing. But given where the AMG Black Series went, we will all get used to this

Absolutely. I accept that argument. But if it were 100kg lighter it would be as quick without the need for a wing or 2 seconds quicker around an average circuit if it still had one. It would also be far kinder on its consumables.

There going to need 500mm discs at this rate of weight /size increase,i was surprised how much brake dust the pccb Make on the latest rs,just shows how the brakes are having to worksmile
Thats a poor render with the daft rear wing, great on a rsr.

Yep. These cars are very expensive to run per day compared with the earlier cars. That’s a lot of mass for the tyres and brakes to manage.

I’ll take your proper 6RS thank you very much. I really regret not picking one up around 2008/9. Lovely racing cars

Unfortunately reduced weight seems to be a lot more expensive to engineer than a massive spoiler !

When was the last genuine lightweight 911 i.e. say 100kg lighter than a mainstream car ? Weissach pack and Carrera T efforts I would say pay little more than lip service personally.

Yep. Probably the 993 and 964RS club sports. These were as close to the Cup car experience as the 996RS but more Paired down. There was scope to shed more from the 6RS but that is a lightweight compared to the 991RS. 993/64’s has no real interior trim and nothing that wasn’t absolutely essential. More like the 73RS lightweight. I get why the cooking GT3 has a full options list and a high basic spec but the RS should be a true lightweight by comparison with Options geared towards more performance not comfort. For perspective, the WP pack - which Costs a small fortune - is probably worth half a second on the lap, which is the same as throwing 50kg of unnecessary bits off of the build.

My RS WP with Lithium-ion battery and PCCBs weighs over 60Kg less than an otherwise similar non Weissach RS with steel brakes and OEM battery...Must make a difference in dynamics plus the equivalent of finding an extra 21 BHP on the heavier non WP car to offer an identical Power/weight ratio..
