Any love for the 997 GTS?
Discussion
Anywhere that lists the GTS standard features + what were options? Apologies if you guys all know this, been a while since I had my last Porsche but looking forward to getting the GTS.
Shame Porsche stopped doing the cert of authenticity, got one for my 997 C2S and it was quite a nice thing to have

Going to jinx it and mine will explode tomorrow for saying this, but I got mine after 4 owners and only 24k miles and after several euro trips it's on 54k miles, has not missed a beat. And I used to live in London so it was parked on the street for 2 years. Also a Cab, never leaked etc.
Had I had your experience it too would have put me off the brand, I totally get it. But forums seem to only contain the horror stories and give the idea that all cars are bad.
I don't run a warranty on mine, each year we set £2k aside instead. So far I have not touched any of that money.
I don't mean to make it sound like a horror story. I just think the warranty is an essential... I don't think the OPCs prep the cars and fix faults before they sell them. They let the owner find the niggles and then fix them under warranty later.Had I had your experience it too would have put me off the brand, I totally get it. I would love another one tbh...

Good info, for the last bit theres an easy and cheap workaround for that by way of a Tunai Firefly Bluetooth connector that can go in the central armrest cubby USB and AUX Alcantara Interior (could be changed to leather at no cost)

Yes but you only get those central armrest connections if your car has the option....think it’s called something like “Universal Audio” Cheib said:

I really didn't fully appreciated mine and its rarity at the time I had it; Manual, Sport Chrono, Bose, Short Shift Kit, Leather dash, Sports chassis and LSD, Bucket seats and the Audio connection. Sold it at about 12k miles - Alcantara Interior (could be changed to leather at no cost)

It came up for sale about 18 months ago and I though the leather was starting to crack on the seats so I ummed and missed the purchase opportunity - it now resides in Hong Kong unfortunately so unlikely to see out shores again.
Evening chaps,
I have been looking to buy a GTS over the past 3 months and have seen some cars at the current prices hanging around for a while and even some that are being reduced.
Is a full leather GTS with leather dash less sought after than an alcantara/leather interior car?
And are heated seats and bose must have options?
Having read through this thread prices of PDK coupes with under 40k miles are ~£65k do you see this as a true reflection of this car or just in line with used car prices?
Cheers

My new to me 997 GTS cab PDK arrived during the week - not driven much due to the awful weather so cleaned it and ‘moved in’. All good so far, really looking forward to going for a drive.
Looks mega, congratulations. That leather backed seat I think is an extra upgrade option, unless i am mistaken. jzma said:

The Alcantara/Leather combo provides a more luxurious and sportier cabin feel. All leather is a bit one dimensional. Still lovely, but it's a bit cow overkill (metaphorically and literally).I have been looking to buy a GTS over the past 3 months and have seen some cars at the current prices hanging around for a while and even some that are being reduced.

Heated seats are more of a nice-to-have, or squarely dependant if its a daily driver and you are up at 6am (in the car by 6.30/7) and heated seats in the winter would be of value. Depends on your circumstances.
Bose, I feel one is paying for the badge rather than a significant uplift in sound quality.
But you should spec it for you. You'll get as many opinions for and against these options. Spec it for what feels right for you, not the next owner... otherwise from day one it will be compromised to what you'd have ultimately wanted it to be.
It’s a 10 year old car he can’t spec it
I think £65k for a 40k mile PDK is a bit toppy if I am honest….I’ve got a manual car. At the peak of prices three or four years ago a manual with that mileage was £70k and a PDK £10k back. If anything I’d say the price differential has widened between manual and PDK cars since then.
As for spec yes Alcantara interior is one of the desirable options as is the leather dash. I’ve mulled selling mine a couple of times, first thing I get asked is “has it got the Alcantara interior” by dealers….
Sports Chrono is another one that you should look for especially on a PDK car.

Don't underestimate the leather dash. It makes a big difference to the quality feel, in my view - and you're looking at it all the time you're in there.
Have seen quite a few with leather seats etc., but don't know how much it affects resale. I actually preferred the leather seats in my C4S to the alcantara in the GTS.
Think the centre locks are essential as they're a big part of the transformation, although one could argue that about the alcantara.
If you do get one I suggest getting a decent battery vs the lightweight one that Porsche offered it with. My one was constantly draining them flat if I didn't use the car for over a week. Must have got through three replacement ones in five years.
