The cars at select Are 2nd tier cars, been to see 2 , mate went to see one, it's the dog end of the market and the sales staff sorry to say are also at the dog end. As always a market for cheaper cars, but don’t expect much in the quality or the experience.

Looking around at both gen 1 and gen 2 997 GT3s, it seems a lot of the non-CS cars for sale at the moment have sports seats rather than buckets. Would you stick out for a bucket-seat car (don't really want cage etc) or just get some aftermarket seats fitted to a comfort car?

I suppose it depends on your intended use. If/ when I get a gt3 it will be a daily driver so I'd probably go for a comfort & fit my spare folding buckets I've hoarded.
If a little used/ investment car, I would go clubsport every time.

Nothing wrong with a comfort spec car whatsoever, if you value a bit of comfort and practicality over something you don't really need on the road for 99% of the time.

All price dependant.

The issue unlike the 997.2 cars where a set of buckets is £6.5k
For some 2nd hand foldings so the £84k car at Cameron imo is a steel.
The 997.1 had the carera Gt very light weight buckets which are >£20k !!!

I've really only just started looking at 997 GT3s, but what is it about the Cameron car that makes it a steal?

If you want to do track days, the you need buckets. A decent, might set aren't cheap, but it is possible to do.

If you really don't car about going on track then stick to comfort spec and save yourself some money. There's absolutely nothing wrong there.

This one seems to be slowly dropping in price, from memory it was up for £74k a month ago.

Anybody been to see it, know the history?
The wheel colour and lack of a fire extinguisher could identify it as a car I previously bought ... from the owner in Edinburgh. At the time it had its roll cage.

It had full MDSH and extended warranty but I didn't keep it long. I had really wanted a RHD 996GT3CS but the dealer was asking too much and would not move. So I told him I was going to but this car ... and did. He came back to me a couple of months later with a doable deal so I sold it. It was good for me, never tracked ... a nice car.

With some CS spec cars at £125k and even some comforts at £100k

The £84k Cameron car looks a steel imo as you can fit the correct seats to that car for £6.5k

Cars with buckets sell min £95k if you get lucky to get one at that price.
So buy the Cameron car, buy the folding buckets off eBay for £6.5k and then sell the car for £100k :-) or end up with a bucket seated low miles 997.2 car for £92k all in.
Very nice spec also with full leather.
The car also looks like it’s on brand news brakes and tyres and has a tier one service history last sold by an OPC.

Only reason for the non sale is comfort spec atm.

JZM recently sold a red 997.2 with buckets, on IIRC 43k miles, for a number beginning with a 7....

If you can get a deal on a comfort car I always thought this the best plan as you can get Recaro Pole Positions that really the suit the car for under £1k each. CS cars are easier to sell though if you might not keep the car long.

Yes I agree. I've had my comfort GT3 for 8 years and the standard seat have served me well for all the uses I've done.

Like you said they do spend most of the time on the road. When I used to do my Europe trips the standard seats were great.
If I was to do 20 plus track days a years the buckets seat would be needed.

I think I'll probably go down the comfort route, see how I get on, and if I fancy buckets later probably get some Pole Positions trimmed nicely.

Thinking about Gen 2s which seem to be 'about' £90k with 20k-odd miles, what should I expect 5 years later with an extra 25k miles on the clock? I never see the point of owning a car if you're scared to use it so I'd want to go in with my eyes wide open!

Truth is,nowadays, no one can really know.

Environmental legislation is moving more swiftly and determinedly than ever. I have taken the view with mine, I'm in until the end, which at worst may be a point where only the very pristine, collectible museum pieces have any value and, even then, not for actual driving as we know it.

All you can be sure about is the less you spend, the less you can lose.....who knows what going to happen with the rise of the EV and ongoing environmental legislation but surely it will impact the values of all but the most important icons in mint condition.

Be interesting to see if there is an offloading of cars in the next few years as the rich realise these are depreciating assets and seek to move their money into other more secure assets.
