Looks like Porsche have surprised everyone yet again, I think it's great that the GT department is allowed to stay significantly apart from the mainstream models, bit like Toyota.
True, but at the start of last year, they moved Walliser over from motorsport to head up all 911 and 718, and integrate GT cars more into wider range. (Probably...) won't go as far as being a trim badge like some AMG, M cars are, but will be more availability and GT more of a mainstream range.

Hence the 718 Spyder has GT suspension this time round; you will get GT3 Touring PDK and manual, probably 4 seat option, and generally more cars being produced all round. Special cars sell well, so they are going to make more of them.

Super specials like the R and Speedster to take the apex slots.

Interesting, hope that's how it plays out next year. Look forward to the configurator popping up.

Yes K Signal is cool and suits the 911 better than RY imo.

Be interesting to see whether APs promise of more UK PTS slots is forthcoming somehow I doubt it but Lava Cheib is the expert on that. biggrin:

Meantime Gulf looks good imo but like many of these colours it is great seeing the car in fairly strong and often ott colours in pics or briefly on the road in full flight but living with the colour day to day is often a different story. thumbup

That looks good! I think this model looks better than the new one or perhaps it was just that blue colour.

Miami was much better imo.

This is the popular view and for obvious reasons too.

Would be nice not to have to be forced to buy a few panameras they cannot shift together with a few cayennes and maybe a Turbo and maybe a brown envelope on the side to be allowed the privilege to order a GT3 to your spec.. it’s all gotten a bit ridiculous frankly.. if Porsche could kill it all in the UK with a big fat round of allocations for the GT3 I would have a good laugh.. and also order one myself touring 4 seats thanks very much.

With the Touring coming later in the production cycle a lot of people will want those allocations...including the OPC clients who would normally get the early cars.

Yep, much like PDK on the GT4 and Spyder...

Hopefully those of us who want a manual winged car will be in luck for an early-ish allocation...

Do you think that because of the reaction to the last touring? Just curious as to if you are suggesting the “VIPs” want the cars they think might do best for their bank balance?
I think some of those “VIP’s” will want early cars because they will fetch premium’s and they will adopt the standard ownership model but I think some of them will be gutted they missed out on the Touring last time around...IIRC we didn’t know there would be a Touring until around Sep 17 six months after the 991.2 GT3 was launched. These owners will obviously have had a lot of Porsche’s and I think will like the idea of something different. Although I am sure some of them will demand launch cars and one at the back end of production too so they can have the best of both worlds....and if they hand back the early car at RRP when they get the Touring they will probably get it.

For me I always said I thought the Touring was a bit of a curate’s egg...for it to genuinely have been the perfect sleeper GT3 you could use every day then rear seats and PDK would have made a lot of sense. The only version of a 992 GT3 I would want is probably that....PDK with rear seats. That would make it an amazing daily for me and I’d keep my manual 991.2.

I think with the "challenging" looks of the 992's rear end the Touring will be the most popular, not just because people are trying to second guesses resale values. Time will tell though I guess.

I also think manuals will be the least popular version by some way this time around. I just don't think they sit right in a 992 as it's a bit too techy and modern for an old skool 'box.

As the PH review of the manual 992S suggests, if you want manual and old skool feel you might be better off going for a Cayster with the 4.0...

Be a bigger gap from touring to GT3 again.

Let’s not forget the market did Not order a touring last time and that’s clear to see with the figures. Just a few people here who shout a bit louder, but the figures tell the real story.

This time for a daily the GT3 with less carpet, rose joints and thin glass, the touring seems pointless even more so !

All the things which make the 992 GT3 shine is the aero, and the low drag matched with 50% more downforce, it's now a manual RS and a track drivers dream if you want manual interaction.

While people do say they daily their GT3's , I feel I am quite hardcore and hate the car as a daily as it stands, they never make nice daily cars, the new one will be more horrible as a road car.

It’s a very strange move by Porsche to make the 992 GT3 more hard core than the last RS!! For me the GT3 was the fun road car you can track, now it's an all out track car with leather !
It feels the RS will be mental which is good all though not a lot they can do to the RS to set it apart unless it will have that 4.2 upgrade.

How can they remove 50kg from the RS now unless it will be £250k

Markets and opinions change. Plus the Touring wasn't available in the first two(?) batches last time hence the lower numbers. I suspect there will be lower numbers this time too, as the Touring is coming later again, and there'll be more of a bun fight for them.

It'll be interesting to see who goes for what this time around. I think ostentatious displays via shouty cars are going to take a thicker skinned individual with the way the economy is right now. I certainly feel more uncomfortable driving around in my car at the moment.

Looking forward to seeing the finished article in both options though smile

The 991.2 gt3 touring was the rarest of the 991.2 gt3 line up due to them coming towards the end of production. If they came out at the start, I’m sure many more would of been sold.

Remember the 991.2 gt3 touring is the ultimate sleeper, it’s does everything the standard gt3 does and goes under the radar to many.
