Fair enough...

C4S Coupe
Jet Black Metallic
PDK
RS Spyder Wheels W/coloured crest
Folding ext. mirrors in body colour
Sport design from apron/skirts (not rear as don’t want the plate up high)
Privacy glass
Anti glare windscreen strip
Sport Chrono
PSE (black tips)
RWS
PASM
Front axle lift
PDLS
Glass sunroof
Auto dimming mirrors
Black/Crayon Stitching incl. steering column
18 Way Sports Seats
Crest on headrests
Heated Steering Wheel
BOSE
Black Calipers
Adaptive Cruise
Remote Park Assist
Entry & Drive
Carbon door sills

It’s sad that I know the list pretty much off by heart. Stuff considered but that didn’t make it:

Agate Grey
Carbon mirror caps
PDLS+
Exclusive design rear lights
The extra leather package thing that costs £2K.
Burmester (Amazing but money better spent elsewhere).

I tend to be the opposite; rarely buy a new car. Never had an issue with any previous ones but this time I was unlucky...

Ah the tracker, always the tracker... Dad had issues on one of his 911's he bought, a 50 years edition that he bought second hand and kept going back to have the tracker sorted, got quite heated with the OPC... think he had problems with another too scratchchin. My Porsche Car connect app for my GT4 has stopped working (the one that lets you turn the tracker off etc), so that's going back to the dealer too, to be looked at with only 800 miles on the car.

Great news on the new order OP, hope you enjoy it when you get it, and don't let it put you off.
Yeah - They are having problems with the Connect app and the back end. Whoever oversaw that whole disaster needs re-assigning to another role; maybe toilet cleanliness monitor.

That said, sounds like some have had the problem easily fixed so hopefully your OPC will be able to get it taken care of for you.

I wouldn't mind so much if the tracker wasn't an insurance requirement like yourself, and also the app wasn't so 2008. It's going in for a couple of issues not just the app but will see if I can get it all taken care of in one visit.

Perhaps a silver lining and a nice thing about buying new is that you'll get an invite to the PEC at Silverstone, which is really good fun. Get it booked in when you can, the instructors don't sit in the car with you now they take a lead car and you follow, an approach that I actually thinks works better.
I think there are 2 apps - One for pre-992 cars? I know the registration process is different; with a pre-992 you get a "Y Number" that needs entering on a Vodafone portal; that is definitely well 2008! The 992 one is definitely up to date looking. You're right though - On mine the tracker AND alarm didn't work; if the car was nicked they'd use that to wriggle out of it. Wondering whether an old school steering wheel lock might not be better....

Got a Porsche Experience bought for me as a present for my Birthday; didn't know you get one with a new car too s looks like a couple of visits may be in order! Cheers for the heads-up.

Funny timing, just had Vodafone call me and tell me the tracker isn't working... great, stopped responding on the 16th of Jan, can I please take the car out for a drive and call them back... oh okay driving

I'm preparing to experience another similar saga to my Dad and yourself...
Ooof. I think our case is unusual in the time taken to sort it - Most of them do get resolved faster than that. It's a good excuse for a drive, no?

Good result in the end for the OP and topical for me that this thread has been updated;

Just back from collecting my October 2020 build Cayman 4.0 GTS from my OPC after their second attempt to assign the PCC / Tracker services to my account.

I picked the car up in mid January (ex demo) knowing that whilst the tracker was no longer active on the dealer account, my validation code to register this service to my account had not been accepted during the PDI. The Porsche Connect apps (Google, Traffic, weather etc) all work fine and are associated with My Porsche account.

I do not need or desire the tracker so was happy to take the car and allow the fix to happen later. Well, a hard reset and an overnight with the battery disconnected has still not allowed the validation to happen. The next course of action is to replace the tracker unit itself but that requires the dash to be removed. I have declined that action for the moment. My hope is that some form of software / back end systems update will offer a solution although the functionality that will provide will be for the next owner, not me.

Not a nightmare for me, but irritating. Still, another 80 miles closer to being run in....

This is depressingly familiar. I've not got any deep knowledge on the subject - I just know what some experienced engineers told me, and I have a habit of never letting go..... The software, and the back end bit specifically, seems to be the issue. On mine, despite having a working data connection the car would report "no data connection" when I tried to enter the code. Apparently it's the server refusing access that is the issue.

The irony is that it seems that much of these occurrences could be fixed with nothing more than some simple communication and someone owning the case, then following it through to completion. Instead they throw Porsche GB and their OPCs under the bus.

Feel free to DM me if you need more info.

Op this will be no help

You haven't bought a 911, you have bought an Audi wink

Make them take it back and buy a proper 911 eg a 930 or if you like modern a 993 wink

Semi jesting - that sort of thing is annoying, we have a similar issue with a 20 plate Volvo. My other cars are all between 8 and 10 years old, have none of this connected nonsense in them and work 100% fine
Ha! Yeah, I did try and convince Dad we should get a 964 but he was unmoved. I love tech when it works (I'm a bit of a nerd) but when it doesn't it causes so much aggro. When he first saw the bit of plastic with 2 fans covering the engine bay he looked bemused.

In the end stuff goes wrong - That is OK as not everything can work 100% of the time. The difference is what you do for your customer when it goes wrong, and that's where Porsche DE have fallen down badly.

It's ad, because that car was tricking amazing - Loved driving it. Still, hopefully the new one will all be fine and we'll have years to enjoy it together.

So I have a little update too..... 11 months in and my 992 is still deleting its saved favourites every 30 days. However, even though the ticket is still open with Germany, Porsche UK have re-read the instruction manual and it states, "Online destinations that were stored under My Destinations will be deleted after 30 days"...... Sounds suspiciously like my issue, although who designs a system that allows you to edit destinations via an online web portal that then deletes them after 30 days? All very odd.

How is it that someone at Porsche does not know this if it's in the manual, and opens a ticket that's still unresolved 11 months on? It's madness.

It's a weird decision to delete favourites after 30 days. Why would your favourites no longer be so after a month?

Wonder if there's a way to cobble a script together to automate getting a list of destinations into the portal.... It'd be worth doing if only to enjoy the feeling of circumventing the nonsensical policy of automatic deletions. I did wonder if they were trying to prevent users accumulating large amounts of rarely used favourites, perhaps increasing their bandwidth/storage needs? maybe there is a set allocation of data allowed per user in the system? I know I'm pretty bloody cavalier about adding faves to my Google account - I'm not sure whether I could fairly describe a convenient coin-laundry in Tokyo that I've been to twice in 5 years as a "favourite"..........

OP, glad you are getting a satisfactory resolution but it really shouldn't be this hard.
Yeah - Agreed. It’s been a ball ache and the new car won’t arrive until mid-June....
