I don’t have any spec information other than the leaks that everybody knows. Before Christmas I knew I had an order and I knew the date the configurator went live. It’s going to have a 520bhp 4 litre engine as pretty much stated everywhere else. What other surprise specs could there possibly be other than being an evolution over the last gen RS.

So what is the base price
Only 10k at the moment biggrin seriously though, I will know when you do when it goes live on the configurator but let’s just say I’m expecting a 160k price tag with the options and PTS
Crikey £10K for 2 litres of Farrow & Ball, those guys at Porsche know how to make money, might as well be something wacky IMO to make it stand out, look forward to seeing the final spec thumbup

Personally i hope that there will be a big jump in list price for two reasons. The first is it'll hopefully scare off the greedy habitual flippers which will allow all 992GT3s to be allocated to genuine enthusiasts in the first place. The second more personal reason is it'll further reinforce my decision to keep my RS WP and not be tempted to upgrade just for the sake of it.!
They did the same with the rare Speedster which has resulted in quite a few sitting unsold at dealers for over a year with only £20-25K 'overs'. The much more common 992GT3 if priced at £150K will quell flipping IMO.
I will be keeping the RS as well Taffy,I can't see any reason to swap a WP RS for a GT3, especially a LG RS biggrin

I think the GT3 is going to be a great car but the RS models always hold a little something special

How do you think they will further differentiate the new RS - presumably there is less scope for increased power, so will it be through weight saving?

I can't see much in the weight saving area either TBH unless they really strip it out and go for lots of expensive materials in multiple areas where they currently don't use them

I think the only obvious differentiator would be an increase in engine size although this makes it a much more expensive option to develop, homologate and manufacture

I'm going to guess a 4.2ltr in the RS, to match the RSR...

I'm 100% certain that i'm not going to swap my RS WP for a 992GT3. The new car will be great but to be quite truthful i'm really fed up with the allocation process. I also don't want to be wrongly categorised with the habitual flippers who only want the latest GT Porsche every time for bragging rights.!
Another reason is between the awful weather and constant welsh lockdowns i've hardly driven my RS in the last 12 months. Its been on SORN since our second welsh lockdown began in October.
I spoke to my OPC only yesterday and asked how many GT3s they're are getting in the first round and he said about six but its likely to become a fully fledged production model in its own right and be built in higher numbers then the 991GT3. Only a complete idiot will pay 'overs' for one especially if they list at £150k.
If i wanted to change my RS WP for something, it wouldn't be a Porsche as i'd buy a Lambo EVO RWD instead plus a new Lotus Exige 410 Sport 25th with none of the bullcensoredhit one has to endure with Porsche. A new Lambo with a V10 5.2L NA engine with no GPFs which sounds better than any Porsche really appeals.

Well, now you’ve actually committed to a date, we will see whether it’s accurate or not. It’s certainty a date mentioned elsewhere. What is your source for this?

What does that actually mean in practice? Do they have the capacity to make that many cars?
I was under the impression that they actually lost money on each one, given the development costs etc, but it’s considered to be a ‘halo car’ that supports wider brand values etc, which justifies its production?

it's more than special this time, but expect a price to match it.

The RS spec sheet is a swan song car and will show up things people though would not happen.

Feel free to post the financial details to confirm one way or the other, that would be interesting to see!

You make good points there Taffy

I also sorned mine at the end of October as we just have nowhere to go and nothing to do, same here as well, the weather and roads are ste so it looks like April now before the Porsche sees any more action

Increasing production numbers of halo cars seems to be accepted practice by both Porsche and Ferrari right now. The NA engined car cow needs to be milked for all its worth way before 2030 when they'll be banned. The 991.1GT3 UK numbers were 332, 991.2GT3 double at 660 total. This trend will continue IMO on the 992GT3 but by how many, i've no idea.
I briefly owned a new 992S Coupe which i sold after two months as i didn't like it at all, i much much preferred my 991.2GTS.The new 992GT3 will undoubtedly be a brilliant car to drive and Porsche will build enough to satisfy demand as the image of flippers buying them only to sell them quickly to make a fast buck is not doing the brand any favours.
I'll probably get a 992GT3 Touring at some point but will wait to read some reviews before committing.

I think increased production numbers is a given, but (to my mind) that doesn’t mean a GT3 becomes a ‘normal’ production model - given the number of bespoke parts for the GT3 over the regular models, I’d have thought that there would be constraints on the numbers of certain parts that suppliers could deliver.

I think (deliberately) that numbers will be limited and the cars significantly over-subscribed.
