Some crazy high prices knocking around for top spec 991.2 GT3s lately. Shows how much the expected mass availability of 992 was causing downward pressure on prices. Combined I suppose with the very incremental improvements of the 992, 991.2 prices are rising
Certainly some high asking prices and not a lot of cars for sale....it might be more the demand for cars rather then specifics of 991.2 GT3 vs 992 GT3 to be honest. Time will tell ! Anyone panicking selling a proper spec 991.2 GT3 last Autumn unfortunately would now have taken a bath and don't think we have even started yet on achievable prices with lockdown easing Spring and the warmer weather together with track season fast approaching.
Main driver of these much higher prices is clearly the severely restricted number of proper spec cars for sale and relatively lukewarm reception thus far of the marmite 992 with the same engine as the 991.2 giving effectively no performance gains whatsoever but at a much higher price. How the unfortunate rapid spread of Covid throughout Europe specifically Germany further restricts the already limited number of cars being produced and availability for the UK remains to be seen but any probable cutback in numbers this will clearly drive prices of any 'used' /flipped 992s stratospheric which will in turn give a further boost to 991s.
The official roadtests of the 992 will certainly make interesting reading.
If any test mag downgrade its exhaust audio then it will make the 991.2 mega desirable.
Whats going on with the 991.1 , sorry, too lazy to look
Not unexpectedly K the 991.1 is showing similar percentage rises and later late letter newer replacement engine swap good spec cars in particular are selling straightaway often before being advertised.
Worth noting though demand is very strong and expected to continue just like last year across all used car sectors high end medium sector and vanilla fleet/lease mainly due to severe restrictions on supply coupled with general lockdown affluence.
