Have to say, I think they’ve done an interesting job here.
Made the winged GT3 much more track focussed.
Opening the possibility that the Touring will be a bit softer and road focussed. 2 distinct characters.

What will the RS be like?

Catchpole/Frankel both think its amazing on track...and both think the new front end is maybe too busy in the road for a daily. So Ap’s assertion that they had performed the magic trick of better ride on the road and and more grip on track might not be correct then...at least on UK roads. Touring presumably will be set up slightly differently.

Enjoyed both Catchpole and Prossers videos. Cracking car as expected. BUT! It must be the first time in GT3 history I feel a tad underwhelmed. And I can only say its the sound. To check back I watched CH in his original TG vid of the 991.2 and straight away there's that excitement from the engine. Obviously the 992 is so much better on track. However, for me I'm no where near good enough a driver to benefit from this. So it's the other things where the old car wins - the character, the looks, the much nicer old school dash and judging by these early assessments probably a much better road car too...

Has the UK allocation already been snapped up for the 992?

I think the 992 may have a greater affect on 991.2 RS values than base GT3. Sounds like the 992 has sacrificed some usability for more on-track performance. Therefore perhaps the 991.2 GT3 will go down as the most usable GT3 of all time?

Yep the Touring will undoubtedly be the most popular buy new although P may well capitalise on this by charging extra ££ for Tourings which won't arrive in the UK until next year anyway. Cue another possible price increase.

Interesting how Prosser said the 992 was 'quiet' in the cabin at high revs despite much reduced sound insulation and thinner glass which suggests the engine is actually quieter overall as expected. Sounded ok though from the video.

Was interested to see what thoughts were on the much faster steering 14.2 to 17.5 on the 991.2 but little said despite Prosser claiming some straight ahead lack of feel on the new car.

Be great if MH tests on the road to assess how the busy front suspension copes in normal real world driving on normal surfaces and speeds.

Only 1 to 2 cars per OPC this year with likely delays.

Watched Top Gears and Carfection’s reviews. Track = great, as expected. Road, not so much.

Let’s hope they get it right with the Touring.

A big ‘step up’ on the 991 though....loads coming through. I think you may have a 991 GT3 ?.

I’d jump ship ASAP, Blue Horseshoe loves Double Trombones.

Impressed that CH took the time to do a 1000 miles proir to the track test.
Summary: great improvements for the track and RS characteristics on the road.

Why no lap times???
The new car needs to be taken to Anglesey and timed with cup 2 tyres on it.
991.2 GT3 cars going up in value in my opinion because I don't see any reason to change.

Chris says the car is a a comfy as the previous gen. Anyway, I would think that GT3 owners don’t buy them for comfort and I always thought the GT3 RS was more than comfy when driving her to Wales or wherever. What I am pleased about is reviews seem to confirm it is another great GT3 and overall an improvement.
I was more concerned about whether some would say the new suspension makes it less connected to the driver for ex. Which seems to be the opposite.
Great thing about Porsche is when a new model is both owners of the previous gen and new owners remain happy with their cars.

Oh look - overall the reviews are effusive. They've built an outstanding GT3 - again. Sounds like a fantastic step forward.

Whoever came up with the phrase 'unobntanium' on ph - but it's genius. That's clearly what they're made of.

I'd love a manual touring, 991.2 will do for now though!

Being busy is somethings that can be corrected by geometry so that isn't necessarily an issue.

Plenty of people did say the 991.2rs was no less good on the road compared to the gen1 despite a very marked increase in spring rates which it seems unlikely that the 992gt3 will have matched vs the older car (TDT do you know what they are actually?). So 'ride comfort' probably in part has a fair amount of subjective perception in it as well. At least Catchpole didn't say 'the aero' was the main reason for that firmer suspension anyway like some other reviews havesuggested as the idea that 200-300kg extra downforce will cause the suspension to run out of travel even with the old spring rates is comical.....

You mean both owners start trashing the other car to proclaim their current car is better right....? wink

After watching a few video reviews i really like it in Shark blue. All the test cars seem to be on PCCBs and PDK. No doubt its a brilliant track car which is as it should be. Waiting to see a review on a 992GT3 with a Manual box and Steel brakes.
I must admit that i like it a lot more this morning than i did yesterday.

Interesting that Chris' tone to me implied he liked it because it was a great last-of-the-breed NA Porsche and not that it was a monumental improvement over the 991.2. Buy one if you can because it's a soon to be extinct dinosaur, not because it's a 992 GT3.

I'm sure it's a great car, but the reviewers aren't exactly fizzing about how it's substantially better than cars we've seen before.
