I agree with a lot of what you say on this.

But dont forget there are some that bought quite a few cars in order to get a build slot, these COVID times have a big impact on some not just in health ways but financial also. They have other priorities and just cannot afford to keep these cars that were ordered many months ago. Not saying this happens in every case, but i do know to 2 that have been given back to the supplying OPC for these reasons.

Fair enough and I sympathise with these guys however too many get given to serial flippers who have a long history of keeping their GT3/RSs for only a week or so. These flippers would never dare take their new GT3/RS near a track as they like to be marketed as 'Never been on track'
to get a quick profitable sale.

If anyone is looking for a 992 GT3, there is a brand new PTS available at a dealer in the south of France.
I was passing today and thought I would call in to have a general look and there it was. Available at list, albeit LHD

Even though we don't like the French it seems they are not idiots.

There were certainly list price slots on the 991.2 GT3 available in Europe. The UK is a market all of its own,

Yes the UK is a unique market for GT Porsches especially atm.. Sold in relatively low numbers but very important for Porsche.

Like I said surely you would buy a 991 WP GT3RS for considerably less than a 992 GT3 currently

At some point the 992 GT3 will become just another GT3,an RS will always be the special car

Having looked at the new gt3 with a few mates,we dissected the looks of the car and all came to the conclusion it does not look great compared to the prev model,so i hope it drives with some serious differences for the better. The plastic lower front Is hideous, but looks better in body colour.
May be the new rs will look better, but looks so far are not that encouraging with the size of the rear wing.
The WP car would be a better buy imo,not that i am bias.

A year ago my plan was to swap my RS WP for a 992 Touring, however after showing pics of the Touring to my kids which they hated i've decided to keep my RS. Also not feeling much love for the 992 RS although that might change when i see the final version.

Still think anyone paying as much or more for a 992GT3 compared to the RS WP will get his/her fingers burnt.

Not owning an RS WP and having a Touring on order I fully agree with you. RS's are halo models, the WPs (even though we can debate it's real race track world impact) even more special. My incoming Touring will be added to the existing stable and primarily a "workhorse" where I am not fussed about piling on miles (acknowledging my total annual mileage is rather on the low end). It would most likely be the first one to go again if had to make the call

I don't love it either - am hanging onto my current cars but will get the 992RS; agree it is never going to win any beauty contests, but I am convinced that we are nearly at the end of the n/a ICE RS. There will doubtless be a gen2 and some super limited runoff models, but I cannot see Porsche developing and building a next gen RS to come out in 7 or 8 years time right into the teeth of multiple regulations to ban new ICE cars in many countries by 2030-35.
So, a final RS for me personally.

I do not understand why we have not had EVO magazine or one of the other reputable journalists do a lap time in the new 992 GT3 around the Anglesey track setting a lap time to allow us to compare it with the 991.2 GT3RS lap time.
If the 992 GT3 is faster around the UK tracks then I do feel it puts it in a higher price bracket than the 991 GT3RS as it has most of the RS features, carbon roof, carbon bonnet, suspension and the latest info system.
We need some track lap times!!

It’s surprising nobody has done the comparison now we have quite a few customer cars out there.

Hardly surprising when you consider most have already been 'flipped'

I think Evo did try and do one of their leader board time runs, but it got rained off. For now these are the only comparable times that I know all same track same driver. The STO was also 3 secs off the GT3. GT3 on Cup 2 R.

I don't know too much about McLarens, but is it not curious the 720s was faster than the 765LT?

Apolo would have a better story than me I'm sure wink but iirc there were some suggestions that Mclaren had sent a Ferrari style 720 to SportAuto i think......

See above , the 720S Just made better use of its pwer. Think Evo put normal 720s one round Anglesey in 1.11.5 on Stock Corsa
