Yes it was heavily implied that the 991.3 (Speedster /RS WP) engine, would be the PU for the 992.
The question was whether they'd do any more with it.
Seems like they have hit the limit, for this capacity based upon tightening road emissions restrictions.
Everyone suspects that the RS will need to have more cc for more performance from the engine - hence the talk of a 4.2L

The 992GT3 RS will absolutely get a 4.2L unless they ditch NA and employ some form of hybrid assist . The current engine is at its absolute limit due to regs and the need to retain driveability, reliability and more importantly longevity. Otherwise they could have upped the 9k limit to get more top end HP albeit with peakier delivery.

I asked AP on Insta was there any technical differences between the 992 engine and speedster / .3 rs engine. His reply was ‘oh yes’.... I asked him for some details... tumbleweed! The question was whether they'd do any more with it.

Given the basically same engine with only minimal 10bhp power increase slightly more weight and inferior straight line performance of the 992 over 991.2 up to 125mph and without being cynical many existing owners could well be viewing the 992 GT3 RS with its bigger engine and likely c525bhp as the only worthwhile next realistic proper GT3 worth considering.
Interesting that the 469bhp of the 991.1 increased a worthy 24bhp in the 991.2 together with other major improvements too.
992 GT3 will no doubt be a decent package but is it great enough especially having regards to the marmite looks and price hike with possibly still more increases ££ to come.

Why? Thought he'd been quiet!
Because he was spot on about his launch dates, some did not like this so they baited him. He basically told them they were incorrect, and carried on a bit. So some complained and he got banned. Taffy66 said:

Unfortunately R has been issued with a lifetime ban on here so he has appointed me to take his place as Pistonheads Panto villain.Yes the 4.2 has been talked about,so does that mean its going to happen, the 4.2 rsr is a very different and more complex engine, the 4.0 ltr is still not fully developed, may be the new fuel will be the answer.

Unfortunately he had a confrontational positing style and in online forums that is unlikely to end well. No idea what happened but I doubt anyone involved covered themselves in glory.

Having stuck up for him on more than 4 occasions, he then decided to 'go in on me' trying to tell me i was basically lying and that my 992 TurboS delivery was NOT a first batch car! even though the day after release i went in and spec'd my OPC first 3 cars that they ONLY got for their 2020 allocation!
The he tired tell me I am not a preferred OPC customer, and basically not worthy of a first batch GT3.... let alone their PTS slot!
Little does he know...

Shame , I will miss him, not only his posts but the responses he prompted, made by smile and brightened my day. Pity
Banned?, did he type and send out personal insults.?He use to make me laugh too.
I can hear him, ""I'LL BE BACK""
Bless him.
I found him very entertaining and behind that there was a lot of very good info. This place will be very boring from now on as we all need a good laugh in these awful lonely times.

I hope i haven't broken any rules by mentioning it. I try and not take forums too seriously and more importantly never judge a person based purely on his/her posts. I never took offence at his posts although others seemed to take them far too seriously !.
