Ductile Iron I believe. We prefer this to steel as proven in my teams race experience.

Dont get in a technical debate with me on this as I dont have the knowledge, My guys built an amazing race engine for me so I take their view.
No plans to debate it. Just a sucker for details. Although I'll be honest and admit I have never heard of ductile iron.
It's where my question was going since I've been researching Hartech rebuilds smile Never heard of ductile iron either.

Hi OP I love what you are doing here.

Thank you for starting this thread, it’s a great read and I love the rate of progress.

Looking forward to it coming together and seeing and hearing about the end result.

Cheers

Hartech have a great rep. Quite rightly they only do their kits fully installed , as my guys have an engine shop they could do all the work and wanted liners they have used in other builds.

I have never heard of Ductile Iron either, I thought all liners were coated steel. Somebody clever will be along to explain soon.

A ductile material can undergo plastic deformation without compromising its inherent properties. Ductile iron is still quite a broad description, so I’m guessing that the full details are important.

Do your guys do commercial engine rebuilds or are you a special case? Would be interested to know what they charge for a 3.9 rebuild.

Yep, the team will rebuild most engines. The engine shop always looks busy

They are based near Huntingdon, call Stephen on 07590 688211

Engine done,

I didnt go over the top on making it overly pretty, clean and functional

Compared the oil stained heap we took out its 1000% better

What it goes like we will know soon

Looking good, love the colour!

The competition engine builders i help out at tends to use these guys for liners (if not going full silly with Darton (or others) sleeves), the link below gives a brief description of the differences:

Interesting! I had come across Westwood before but as there was so little info about them assumed they weren't a good option. How wrong I was then!
