Probably makes sense to leave your name with the larger independent car dealers - am sure one of them will come up with a slot for a decent sized premium

I ve done exactly this before, wrote on here that I wanted to buy a slot, a bloke replied, we haggled, agreed on 10% of the order value. I then speccd the car for which he had a build slot. We met up and agreed terms upon which we could trust each other. When the car was ready I paid him, he then paid the dealer, I then paid him his 10%. On collection day we met up at a car park 200 metres from the OPC, he went to collect his car, half an hour later he was back with it and handed / signed it over to me. It all went very smoothly and I would certainly do it again. I was happy, he was happy. Job done.

A crap load of trust needed there.

You was still the 2nd owner obviously though

Already done that but didn't get anything for this year allocations.

My focus is on the next year.

Eh no. I was joking. I thought the OP was poking fun at the whole system. Seems I was wrong.

Sorry OP wish I could help but I can't. Good luck and hope you're buying it to put 170,000+ miles on it.

Yes I was serious :-)

once I have it, I will. I put roughly 9-10k miles each year on my previous gt cars (gt4 and gt3 991.2)

you might also want to try OPCs on the continent - judging by chat on here re car availability/used car prices, it seems people in the UK have a lot more spare cash than in other countries atm. I wouldn't be surprised if demand in Germany or France is substantially lower and therefore the chance of securing a car higher [as you are willing to pay a premium, the price difference should not be an issue].

List price is higher in EU and the 20% duty on top would make that a very expensive option.

oh ok, I thought duty is 10% and you should be able to buy ex VAT for export. then never mind

There is no import duty applicable to EU imports.

You may have some hassle with VAT, but you shouldn't have to pay that twice.
