Brilliant - I have to say, I think it’s the nicest colour I’ve ever had on a car, I’m so pleased with it and I think it works really well on the 992 as as you loose some of that 992 bulk / plastic. It can go from a deep rich purple in normal light to virtually black and then really pops when proper light hits it. Enjoy smile

Welcome to the Amethyst (I think) winged GT3 club - stunning smile
Thanks yes Amethyst, love the colour, nice to be able to spec your car and then the wait, even that is exciting in its own way smile

Totally agree, it was out in the sunshine this morning and it just pops. I had my wheels in Weiss gold just a bit softer no right or wrong gold goes well with Amethyst.

That colour is incredible. It’s a shame there aren’t as many pts 997s around.

Lovely! Don’t see many.. we had a Basset Bleu de Gascogne, hence my extensive hound knowledge! I’m a sucker for a big eared dog! …and a GT3!

Looks like these are finally starting to slowly settle in price now they're being pushed down the pecking order by newer releases. Price history shows they've been reduced by a few thousand over the past few weeks. I suspect their trade-in value is where the 991.1 cars are being retailed for at OPCs

This is a market I’m personally keeping a close eye on as it slowly comes within budget.

The key thing I have noticed is

1. The majority of cars have already been for sale for some time, even at the current prices you have in your post.

2. Some but not all opc are lowering their prices.

3. We still seem to get the crazy priced private and independent cars coming on the market, in some cases they are asking 15k or more than an opc car.

4. Dont shoot me for saying this but a 600lt can be had for the same money if not a little less, which I’m sure others have spotted. Could will this tempt porsche enthusiasts like myself to try a different brand??? It’s got me thinking’

Pinkhouse, where do you find the price history for a car listed on AT? I don't see that function anywhere.

I found an extension for google chrome, I'm not sure if there's something similar for other browsers. Here's the link https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/at-price...

It doesn't seem to work perfectly in practice and sometimes it misses price drops e.g when a dealer removes a listing and lists the car under a fresh listing. I also think it only starts to track prices after you install it.

I've been following it as well, the only ones that have sold at close to these prices are a low-spec one from Chester OPC at around £130k and a high mileage one from East London at £128k. Both were non Cubsport FYI.

This seems to be the first time since early 2021 where good spec and low mileage cars can be had for around £130k or less. I think around £120k they would be a great buy and they have been that low in the past so there's no reason why they can't revisit it as prices slowly decline with time.

I think these 991.2 cars are the sweet-spot in the Porsche range in terms of performance per £ and are finely balanced for a split of road and occasional track use. The 992 is obviously better but the price jump is huge and I'm nowhere near being able to afford one of those on the open market and my chances of an allocation are less than zero with only a Boxster S in my Porsche history.

I've also looked at 600LTs, even test drove a Spider and have actively followed the sports series thread as it's also a serious consideration as it is arguably the better car and more "exotic", which makes sense when you compare their new list prices and the ability to drop the roof or rear window adds another dimension to the experience, so they are a bargain, along with the 720s which is also similar money. What put me off one was that this would be my first purchase of car this value, so I thought it would be best to ease myself in with a car that had fewer things that typically went wrong (e.g. door hinges, paint, suspension components, electrical glitches). I still haven't ruled one out as it's more of a heart vs head decision with McLarens, which is why they're so popular. Obviously the GT3 isn't perfect but I'd feel more confident that I'd be able to jump in any day of the year and go for a drive without any warning lights/messages. I had an Exige 410 that I drove to the South of France with my partner, but it involved a detour to Lotus in Monaco to sort out an O2 sensor and a passenger door release that snapped on the ferry, so I've come to value bulletproof reliability quite highly in my search.

I assume you've seen this comparison which is quite insightful:

Another german competitor to the 991.2 GT3 is an AMG GTR, similar performance and more road usable and can be bought for much less nowadays

I'm in the same boat.

In 2019 I paid 114k for a low (4k) mileage 2014 991.1 GT3 clubsport from an OPC. It was an epic car, but with the pandemic I couldn't really drive it, and so I sold it two years ago for just under 100k. Big mistake.

Looking again now, 4 years later, I'd expect similar 2018 cars to be at about 125-130k, adjusting for inflation (ish). We're not far off that, and perhaps some of the OPCs would go there to move the cars (if they aren't on SoR with a deluded seller). Ashgoods had one there recently, it was lovely but I just couldn't get past the colour (yellow).

If the right colour/spec combo clubsport 991.2 comes along at the right price then I'm back in. I'm not paying crazy overs for a 992, and I think the 991.1s are now overpriced as we're still talking >£100k for a 9-10 year old 6 owner car. Let's see what happens.
