but a strange point ... as far as I can see the ride height on the 991.2RS is 112.5 mm whereas the GT3 is only 88mm ?
Ride height is measured from the ground to measuring points on the chassis right? Some of that will be tyre diameter being bigger i guess on the RS. And probably some allowance for the potential extra downforce if at max speed.

Hi Chris what exactly are you comparing?

991 GT3 vs 991 3RS

Or 992 GT3 vs 991 3RS

Certainly I’d expect that the 991 3RS could have a higher measured ride height on its wheels and tyres than 991 GT3.

Much chunkier tyres up front and obviously 21inch on the rear with a corresponding tyre.

Both 991.2 ... all other things being equal, from the rear hub (front is the same 20" wheel) the larger wheel accounts for 13 mm ish and the extra 30 profile on the 20mm tyre width another 6mm (front and rear) ... making a little more than 18mm. There remains a difference of around 6 + mm ...

It does beg the question as to whether or not axle lift is necessary on the GT3RS ?? Or just a nice to have ? Or ??

Only two manual 991.2 GT3's on auto trader at present and 4 Tourings. Just looking at the price, it does seem crazy that deleted rear wing makes the value jump by literally 60-70 grand. The company (RPM?) offering to take the wing off must be queued out the gate biggrin

Yellow , assume you got a 992 Touring then and the quest has ended , enjoy ...
Chris , need the lift in London as the rear is higher and the speed bumps here are a menace

Its a cs hunter,it needs a tail like yours wink
The ride height measurements are probably different because of measuring points are possibly different,i dont see a 991 rs being that different to a current gt3 on the road,i dont think you need to allow for aero as the down force aint that big that the springs and dampers cant cope.

To get a car back into extended warranty programme, you'll need to have

- owned the car for at least 90days
- completed recent service at OPC or Authorised Service Centre (so.. an OPC)
- passed their 111 point check (which you might be able to get included at the time of OPC service)

It is a tight choice between 991.1RS and 991.2 GT3.... 991.1RS is just such a good looking car IMO and does the lifestyle thing just as brilliantly as it does the trackday thing. Proper value.

But the 991.2 GT3 has THE engine.
Thanks for this, really appreciate it

Totally get what you are saying!
THE engine and the only car along with the early 991.2 RS’s that it’s not gagged by a GPF.
Happy to report I picked up my first GT car with THE engine yesterday. 991.2 CS with most of the options ticked (I think). OPC Bristol were great. And as you do, thoroughly enjoyed my track day today at Bedford and will continue to enjoy to learn the car as the year/s pass.

I put a deposit down when it was launched but I didn’t have the credentials…Porsche still took my deposit though…and as my sales guy came, took and left without a trace nor sound for a few years I asked for my deposit back. 6 years later I am in what I wanted smile

Just want to add that this thread has been so incredibly helpful. Thank you to all of you knowledgable enthusiasts, from a very happy and lucky chap smile

Still think a wing is part of a GT3 ... enjoy

Picked this up yesterday - coming from a GT4 RS it is true luxury. 18 way seats, PDK, Bose and several other luxuries not spec-ed by me. I've set the tyres to 30F 32R and it seems to work really well!

Spotted at Bedford yesterday. I had no idea they could pass the noise test these days at Bedford otherwise I'd have brought mine!

Looked superb on track - big fan of the silver wheels. Love the dish on the rears.

I was asked to do earlier upshifts on the back straight as I was ‘pinging’ the sound machines.

Good to know, do you know how the yellow 981 GT4 got on?
